This does work if one is as patient and precise as you seem to be, I actually prefer it to vacuum because you have more control over the finer details of the shape - unless your vac is high end. I’d love to see more of the Extra 330SC, it’s one of my favorites

Now you got me thinking about model boat hulls . Im into boats in bottles [ its a mental disorder ] and theyre getting bigger , You could form some pretty big hull sections ,paint them ,roll them up and stuff them in the bottle , I like it .

Very nice work, congrats. As a suggestion I would have used balsa wood to make the work easier (unless you plan to reuse the plug to make a lot of canopies).

I'll bet this would work with control line models too! I have an old Mono Cote heat gun. Think it would get hot enough?

Lots of work! With a 3D printer, you can quickly print a negative, fill it will plaster, and use that for your canopy former.
