I find that acrylic inks also work well for tinting water effects. My gatormen from hordes are on swamp bases, as well as a swamp template I built before PP took that away from them... sadness. For the bases of the gatormen, I used an aggregate to build up banks around the insides of the bases. After painting those, I placed in some long grass before doing my pours. The first pour had brown ink mixed in, the second pour had just a hint of green ink. For the swamp template, I built up a circular bank and painted it. Using the brown ink pour, I got inspired and took a toothpick grabbed a bit of light brown paint on the tip, and dipped it in and gave it a swirl. When that had dried, I did a pour with the green ink tinted water effects to top it off, which really brought out the swirling mud effects in the brown layer. Also, I used touches of untinted WE on the legs and tails of the gators to make them look wet going into the swamp bases. Sadly, I no longer have them... not only was I really happy the way the paint on the gators turned out, but also my best basing job ever, with the special swamp terrain as the icing on the cake.

Great tutorial, will have to make some of these for my upcoming Middle Earth games. Also is great to find tutorials from someone in my area, makes it much easier to gather supplies when the stores referenced are actually near me for once.

Hey sweetie pie I try to find the epoxy resin at bunnings but not sure what brand.. Maybe I got the wrong one.. It really ko me lol..

Hey Mel! Yeah Bunnings only stock Polyester resins, Barnes is where you want to go! I usually use this stuff: www.barnes.com.au/epoxy-resin/epoxycast-clear-casting-resin-1240 But I'll be experimenting with their new deepour resin soon too.
