It's the same thing on a smaller scale. They spin even smaller pieces of strings and they spin those from even smaller pieces of whatever you want to a make a rope out of.

FYI this rope walk can be visited at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. You can walk the entire length of the building, and it's even longer than it feels in this video. They maintain and restore antique sailing ships there, so I'm sure having an authentic rope making machine is very useful

Thanks for the tutorial but I'm stuck. I've just made the three strands and I'm trying to bundle the three together(2.05), but I need rope to finish the rope...
@ThatOneWarrior
@ThatOneWarrior 5 жыл бұрын
Ah I see you might have missed this step because the video cut out before mentioning it. You have to first use the time machine to travel into the future where you have successfully finished making your rope and borrow it from your future self and then come back to this step that you have been stuck on. Oh and don't forget to return the rope you borrowed, otherwise you'll create a time paradox or something like that.
@chronischtelaat
@chronischtelaat 5 жыл бұрын
@@ThatOneWarrior Hahaha or I could just let the rope create itself, by going back in time with the rope to make sure the rope is created so it can create itself in the future.
@kylebroflovski6382
@kylebroflovski6382 5 жыл бұрын
ThatOneWarrior But how can you use the time machine to travel into the future to get the already built rope so that you can go back in time to finish the rope when the rope was never even finished for you to go forward in time to retrieve it in the first place?
@ThatOneWarrior
@ThatOneWarrior 5 жыл бұрын
@@kylebroflovski6382 I'm glad you asked! This brings up an important distinction to make when time travelling. When you are travelling through time you are actually creating new timelines and can never truly affect what transpires in your own timeline. That said, the rope will always eventually be created in some way or another for your past self to be able to be able to "borrow" it and go on to make their first rope.
