That's an extremely creative use of simple shapes, and duplicating the first graph to produce the orbs is a great idea. Three basic shapes produced a remarkable result.

Btw, I tried to teach my son (now 15) blender a while back but it was not sticking.. maybe my teaching skills / style lacks or maybe he was just not interested in 3D .. or maybe he did not have what it takes to be motivated and inspired to pursue this path. I thought it would be interesting to know what inspired YOU and what path YOU took to learn Blender and get good at it.. perhaps your path/approach to learning Blender could be an inspiration to other young (or old) enthusiasts out there who want to learn. An idea for one of your future videos. :)

nice tutorial. Btw, you could also use a Boolean Math -> Not to invert a selection.
