ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
I was just playing around for todays video and I simply love the result. The best part of making these small silver flowers is that it isn't important to be so precise while cutting them. That makes them perfect if you are just starting out. Do be careful with adding the small granules though, such a small piece of silver can melt if you overheat.
HIGHLIGHTED TOOLS:
The highlighted tools for this video are the dapping punch set and the soldering paste. You can find them at my favorite suppliers:
If you are from the EU, check out Herens & Herens. You can register as an Estona student if you do not have a chamber of commerce number. If you do order with them, you will receive a 5% discount on all tools with the code estona5. Herens even has a 'Seen at Estona' page at their site.
If you are from the United States, look up Gesswein. If you order over there, you will receive a 5% discount on almost all of their tools with the code EST21. You can find all tools to go with my online metalsmithing course here: www.estona.nl/wp-content/uplo....
FREE VIDEOS:
My channel is packed with free video tutorials, including a complete beginners course. Metalsmithing can be so much fun. The trick is trusting yourself, learning how to fix your mistakes and using the right tools. Interested in getting started yourself? Check out my website www.estona.nl or browse around right here on my KZfaq channel.
SUPPORTING MY CHANNEL:
If you would like to support my channel, you can really help out by sharing it amongst your metalsmithing friends. You can tag me in your work on Facebook or instagram with @estona.jewelry.tutorials, or leave a comment at one of my videos. You can even leave a small tip by adding a 'super thanks'. If you really want to go wild, feel free to visit my website to book a one-on-one video chat or treat yourself to a unique and one of a kind piece of jewelry from my webshop.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT,
IT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME.

Thank you so much for all you do for the community!! God bless you for improving the world! We can all feel your kindness. ❤ These flowers are soooo cute and special! But believe it or not, I’ve been searching the internet and KZfaq for tutorials on gold-filled soldering to make jewelry, but can find virtually nothing. Nothing professional, at least. Could you please make tutorials on 14k gold-filled? I’m trying to find the most easy, and least expensive way to be able to do it from home. I know that gold-filled can be a little tricky, and hard to seal so that the exposed edges don’t eventually tarnish. So I’m trying to find a way to work with this material without having to gold-fill it myself in the end!

Thank you so much for your kind words Sandy! I myself like to stay away from gold filled and gold plated items. Your client has to pay more than with sterling silver items, but will not get the quality of gold. Over time the layer of gold will disappear (especially with gold plated jewelry) and your client is left with a piece of jewelry that isn't wearable. Take a good look at some websites that sell plated or gold filled jewelry. You will see that they often have a limited guarantee period. Sometimes even only five months. If you do sell jewelry like this, be prepared for customers coming back to restore jewelry pieces. That is why I only use solid silver and gold. It saves me from a lot of hassle in the end.

She's right, it's a great technique. You'll want to make sure you use the fabric based "sandpaper," not paper sandpaper, that will not hold up. It just tears.
@Estona.Jewelry.Tutorials
@Estona.Jewelry.Tutorials 3 ай бұрын
Hi Gabi, I did use the regular (paper) sandpaper. You can use it if you are careful or make it a bit stronger by adding some time on the back.

@gilliankemp92 I'd suggest doing what Bregje suggested, putting some strong tape on the back, and then cutting in strips. Should be good to go til you can get the heavier fabric sandpaper. Good luck!

Bregje, this is a really cute ring. I see that you did a lot of polishing with a cutting compound. It really made the edges nice, not so sharp. What kind of cutting, then polishing compound is your favorite? I also use Hone & Highlight sold by Jessica Cote of Rosy Revolver. It's a tumbling media that really makes a lovely finish. I think you'd really like it. I think Otto Frei sells it also. It is proprietary, she invented it. My tip: I always try to buy directly from the artist/maker so they get all the revenue. Last I checked, she does sell it directly. Thanks for a nice tutorial. 🌺 Ps. Love the fabulous hair - gorgeous 😍

Hi Julia, thank you for watching! I do so to protect the silver from fire scale / fire stain. This ring has a bigger surface, so if I don't coat it, I am afraid I will get some stains after polishing my pieces.
