@@FrazierDanger ok, and that heat conducts down the copper and melts the solder. Why isn't that heat conducting down the wires and melting the insulation? Those power supplies are usually 5v ~2a, so you have around 10W max. Low quality soldering irons are 70W and don't melt solder that well. You can also burn wood with soldering iron tips, so if the graphite is hot enough to melt solder why isn't the pencil smoldering?

​@@southy3667I agree. It does smolder some when he plugs it in. Tht has to be from wires and insulation and who knows he may have built more than 1 unit for video. Deff dangerous. Buy soldering iron at harbor freight

It just amazes me that the pencil lead doesn't just break, especially when you tighten a screw down on it, any time I sharpen a pencil with a knife the lead ,graphite always breaks.

​​@@FrazierDanger copper has a high thermal conductivity and hence conducts a lot of heat. Which means the USB wires will heat up a lot which was the point they were making, why can the tip reach those temperatures but the USB wires aren't?
