My husband is an avid hunter and I make homemade soap as a hobby. I just started rendering the deer tallow to make soap. It's such a great way to use another part of the animal. I've been making the soap with a mixture of the deer fat, olive oil and coconut oil but now I want to just try pure deer fat like you did. It looks like a really creamy lather. Thanks for sharing!

I made it once---- well my daughter made it and it was amazing. I live in the middle of Indian country up here in Northern Minnesota. My native friends and family begged it all off of me to use as shampoo. I'm thinking of trying cedar tea in place of the water. We'll see.

Hello! This is awesome. My husband and I (at the ripe ages of 61 and 60 respectively ), are trying to be more self sufficient. This is to include rendering our own tallow for cooking. And I’d love to learn (which I just did thanks to you) and make our own soap. I hear that dear tallow makes great skin moisturizer/lotion. Again something I want to learn and make. Thank you for this video! I enjoyed watching and learning. Never too old to learn something new!! ❤️💜💚

Thank you for the recipe. I'm going to try this with bear fat. I would never hunt bear but the local butcher saves the fat for me.

Sir, cold process soap it is not safe to handle or use with out gloves for the first 2 weeks , it can still burn you unless you check the PH before to be safe. I LET MY PH to be between 7 and 8.5 , then I touch the soap or used. PH strips can be ordered from Amazon very cheap and can save your skin. Also those 4 weeks necessary for the soap are for complete saponification of the oils and for the lye to be neutralize. In your presentation, before you cut the soap, you touch your face and this is how i burn my face doing exact the same as you. Always have some vinegar around when you handle LYE. Be safe and enjoy your soap

Great video! I just got done rendering out 4 1/2 pounds of lard from Adele this season. This is just the video I was looking for. I am thinking I am going to have more of a pine pitch scent for mine. Where did you source your essential oils?
