This tutorial will teach you how to make straw stars from basic materials.
You can use craft straw or any other type of straw available in your part of the world. For this one I've used water reeds along with split drinking hay straws. Japanese paper bands or any other similar material should well do!
Water reeds are a very popular material in Australian Aboriginal culture.
This method is based on the one by Henrike Bratz, book Strohstern - Nostalgie

Enjoy!

Thank you! I wanted to do this with schoolchildren and needed to know how to make the stars without the fancy plastic star mold.

Please show how to weave: a straw braid for decorating places from the connections of bunches in Didukha, a spiral (babu), hedgehog, eight-pointed star. All of the above are symbols of Orthodox Christmas decor. Thank you very much in advance!

It doesn't matter too much, as long as your toilet paper roll fits inside the circle

@svetlanabell4211 One more question, what about the marks on toilet paper roll I saw you had different widths of cuts ir cuts were closer or farther apart, just thankful you shared this beautiful craft

@@caraogg6230 no worries at all! :) the idea is just to make equal spaces all around your circle (toilet paper roll), and the width of each space should be about the same width of the straw you use. Try playing around with more spaces than six - twelve, for example, gives you really cool results! :) Also, here I've shared how to use Japanes paper band to make these stars (in images) www.tumblr.com/fernsandtales/701613014015672320/paper-band-stars-snowflakes-super-cute-stars?source=share
