So glad to see that you didn’t waste so many outer leaves.There are so many videos on here where cooks did that. And I love that you did not put eggs into the stuffing...no need for eggs because the mixture stays together in the artichokes.

Look great!!! We make almost the same way. Ours usually look like yours when finished. We individually stuff each leaf, drizzle with oil, place in pot with water and steam I do mine for almost 1 hour and a half give or take. While they are steaming I baste them about every 15 minutes also keeping an eye on the water and adding more if needed. And they are done when a leaf can be pulled out easily. Thanks for your video. Delish!!!

I do mine the same way, but I've never finished them in the oven. I have 2 really big ones I'm doing today so I will try this extra step. We just usually steam them until the leaves pull out easily. We also never use a steamer basket, just set them in a little water or some chicken broth. Also monitoring liquid level and adding as needed. I also might try my Instant Pot for these.

Great question! I always thought that the choke and purple fibres needed to be removed yet I haven’t seen anyone do that. If someone is new to eating artichokes will they know not to eat the choke? A terrible way to ruin what would have been a great dinner otherwise.

@kirstenwhitworth8079
@kirstenwhitworth8079 5 жыл бұрын
NO! That "fuzz" is the "choke"in artichoke. Scoop it out with a spoon either before you cook it, or as you are eating it. I usually cut the bottom into quarters from the bottom, and then scoop out each quarter - much easier if they are still hot.

My family has never removed the choke and it has never been a problem. (We were taught as children what part not to eat.) We still have the delicious heart to eat when we hit the center and because its cooked it's way easier to remove the chole off the heart.(you can even do it with a spoon) it's all a matter of preference.
