How To Make Sweet Potato Chaat || Nandita Iyer || Saffron Trail

India's most famous snack dish is Chaat. There are many different kinds of chaat but we bet that this Sweet Potato Chaat by Nandita will have you licking your fingers and asking for more! Check it out and let us know how much you loved it!
RECIPE FOR SWEET POTATO CHAAT
Ingredients:
1 large sweet potato, boiled
1-2 tsp Oil or ghee
1-2 onions, chopped
1-2 tsp coriander, finely chopped
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp salt
3 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp Green Chutney
1 tsp Tamarind Chutney
Garnish:
1-2 tsp Pomegranate seeds
Roasted Peanuts, handful
Few mint leaves
Few coriander leaves
1 tsp chaat masala
Method:
Boil & peel the sweet potato. Once it's boiled cut it into bite sized chunks.
Heat some oil in a pan and fry the sweet potato chunks & fry them till golden brown
In a separate bowl, add onions, coriander, red chilli powder & chaat masala and give it a good mix
Then add salt and lemon juice and mix well
Add the sweet potato and toss it well to combine the ingredients
Finally add the green chutney & tamarind chutney and give it a good mix.
Add some pomegranates, roasted peanuts, coriander, chaat masala, mint leaves and serve!

Every time I watch one of your videos I'm mentally challenged to "translate". For example, here in central Texas fresh Coriander is called Cilantro (or Chinese parsley) and I had to "google" chat masala. I very much enjoy your videos. I should watch more of them.

Chat masala you will get in any Indian store it doesn't have substitute name or thing in any other language /country .it's sour powder ( like raw dried mango pwd kind). Very Indian it is.

When I came to Canada from India a year ago, I couldn’t find coriander and later on i got to know that it’s called cilantro. But I’m still confused what’s the difference b/w cilantro and parsley 😅

@@namitasingh4173 Cilantro, the plant itself, is also often called "Chinese Parsley". The seeds of the plant are (on America) called "Coriander" and you can purchase them whole or ground. This seems to be a spice that is used the world over and there are no doubt other regional names for the plant (and perhaps the seeds as well). Sometimes, what is called "Parsley" in the US is more accurately called "Curled Parsley" or "Curly Parsley" and a google image search on either term will show you the difference between Cilantro and what Americans call Parsley.

Try Hari chutney (which is a cilantro, lemon juice, ginger, cumin chutney) for the green chutney and Mango chutney or Gray's chutney for the sweet chutney.
