In this video we create some nice gated synth pads. We use Serum in the tutorial, but the process is the same in most modern vsti synths.
Thanks,

Great demonstration of both using BitWig for arpeggiator example and also using the Serum LFO! I like the sound you created aswell. I would put the arpeggio at difference paces/freqs at different places to the beat.

Thanks bro, the Arp is really easy and straightforward to use in Bitwig. Ill bring you a license of Bitwig 8-track next time I come by your place. Happy to hear you like the sound. Super easy to create With Serum or just the native Polysynth in Bitwig. Yeah its really awesome to adjust the arpeggio rate or LFO rate for various rythmical effects. Go for it! 🌞🦊

Oh, that beautiful Cambodia song as a reference again! Thank you very much for this little how-to video, Mattias! Sound design videos rule! =) I really like the result of such a shattered pad stabs sound, indeed it works nicely, especially here with the arpegiated chords on the input! So yes, many thanks for this idea! I also like to make something like "parallax" pads, when pad chords are kind of emulated with quick mono arpeggios, like in those good old 8-bit games) It still usually needs some reverb and delay to sound impressively, but I like the sound. I think, it's some close technique to what you're showing us here. I completely agree on effects economy idea on certain tracks - indeed it seems to be more handy to keep the tracks dry as much, as possible, and only add the necessary level of effects on later stages. Sometimes it still doesn't work, as you can't really hear the desired atmosphere of the track, but it's more often useful, than when one creates a hall of sounds and try to decrease the effects level. So yes, thank you very much again for this synth tip video and raising many interesting questions! Good luck with your current projects and plans, Mattias! Enjoy this time!

Hehe yeah I might have overused my song now for KZfaq material. But it's such a lovely track and so many small details to show from it although it's not a complicated track. Yeah quick mono arps rule! I playing around with tons of 8-bit sounds from time to time. Thanks Alexey! It means a lot. Good luck with your new tracks and mixes too!

@@MattiasHolmgren No-no, that's just great! Keep using it, if you will, for me personally it always adds a little sun drops and spring inspiration to the main topic of the video! :) What a track! Yes, indeed it's that sometimes not so busy and complex things work just beatiful. Just to find the harmony. Less is more as you say ;) Thank you very much for your warm comments, Mattias! Always a pleasure to be here again and again)

Oh yes, its still relevant. Especially after the last update which makes LFOs / envelopes dynamics and modulatable on per node level. Its sick! Serum goes Bitwig. 😋 Did u try that feature yet?

what you recommend for daws (workflow etc) i have FL studio, but i feel that daw seems so clunky to work in. Hard to find what you look for, workflow, its not that fast. Is bitwig better you feel? You think bitwig is a more professional daw?
@MattiasHolmgren
@MattiasHolmgren 9 ай бұрын
Bitwig is easy to work in and great to keep things organized. FL studio is fast when you get the hang of it, but less good from organizational perspective. Both are professional DAWs.

Hello Mattias, u are helping me with the most of my bitwig problems, i really like your channel. But few weeks ago i bought new USB microphone, and i cant compatibile it with bitwig :( , with ASIO i had no sound from bitwig, and with JACK... my bitwig have crashed and then jack didint really wanted to run... i tried to find some help on the internet, but there is no helpful materials that i can use in practise. im really confused. what am i doing wrong?

HI CZEJAN, I don't use USB mics myself, I only use XLR condenser / dynamic mics connected to a dedicated audio interface like Duet, Komplete Audio 6 or Steinberg UR22 interface. USB mics are basically acting as an audio interface with their own AD (analog to digital) converter. What USB mic is it? They should have shipped it with some kind of driver for Windows (I guess you are using Win 10?). I highly recommend grabbing a real audio interface for using with Bitwig Studio (or any DAW) because you get better audio converters (quality). On a MAC it's really easy to merge various audio interfaces into one unit. But on Windows it's a bit tricky to handle. I can't really tell what's the problem at your side. The USB mic should pop up as an audio interface (1 input) in your devices. So you should be able to select it as input in Bitwig. Did you try a USB 2 port or USB 3? I think the USB mic is probably USB 2.0 compatible. But it might not solve your issue. Worth trying various port though. I don't use Windows anymore, but did you try ASIO4ALL app? I think it's recommended if you don't have a pro grade audio interface at your disposal. Hope you get it sorted out (or get a cheap audio interface).

@@vadvenurt yeah ASIO4all should only be an emergancy-solution if you dont have a proper audio interface..until you get one. 😉 Great to hear you got audio.
