I don’t throw away any scraps of yarn or anything soft and squishy because I use it for stuffing when stuffing dolls or pillows! So you really don’t need to waste any of the T-shirt at all!

Little did you know that, when you made this video three years ago that your instructions would help people who are making masks for health workers during the Covid 19 pandemic. I ran out of elastic quite quickly and needed something to make ties for the masks. I remembered that loops of old t shirts would roll up but could not figure out how to get alot of them out of a T shirt. Your video helped. I've made over a hundred and have ties enough for lots more. Thanks

This is the first tutorial that I've seen using the whole t shirt instead of just the main torso part up to the underarm and the rest was discarded. This tutorial is environmentally friendly. Especially in this day and age when everything is readily discarded.

I recently lost 50 lbs and while I typically wear clothes until they completely wear out with no thoughts about fashion, some of my stuff is pretty much falling out. It’s way too worn out to donate so I’m going to use all the knits for yarn! I have a rotary cutter now, too. Game changer.

Just found this video, and WOW! I just went through all the t-shirts in my house to donate last week, to only turn around after watching this video and pull most of them for yarn. I have been wanting to try this for the longest time and just can't bring myself to pay the high prices but now I can make those rugs and save on both ends, thanks for sharing your process. Such an awesome idea. Just an idea though for the unusable scraps. You could save up all small unusable fabric scraps and put them in a sac for birds to come and pick through for their nest making.

WOW! JUST, Wow! This has to be the best ”T-Shirt Yarn” instructions. Thank you. I have 2 or 3 drawers jammed full of hubbikins undershirts (lotta stains in there). I wanted to make him something to commemorate his retirement and I do believe making this yarn will open up the possibilities.

Been making masks for our large family and some friends because of the Coronavirus. I researched the mask making and talked to some nurses,surgical assistants, etc and they said that the masks with the elastic over the ears really make the back of ears raw. Even those those masks are faster and easier to make I wanted something different. So, I’ve been making masks using a halter style closing where the loop is at the back of the neck and it ties at the top. I cut up one T-shirt without side seams to make some continuous yarn by cutting around and around. But, not having any more no side seam shirts I started looking for alternatives and found your video. Love your method and I do have some tshirts with side seams. Will be doing it now so I can finish some more masks to help protect other people. I’ll bet you didn’t think when you made this video years ago that it would be used during a pandemic. I wish all vid makers were as efficient as you; thanks so much! I've made Tarn (t-shirt yarn) and leave the goofy ends on the Tarn to more or less create a fringe effect, country-style.....once crocheted or knitted, etc., any too goofy ends can be trimmed out.

I have watched other videos on how to make t-shirt yarn before and could never quite understand how it ended in one long strip of fabric and I they never caught my interest enough for me to watch them until I might understand either. I have been waiting for a new foot control for my Bernina sewing machine. The place is getting thousands of orders daily, plus they sell some fabrics. I go online & check the status of my order daily & it is still pending. I think today is the 20th or 21st day. Their site says their orders are running 10-20 days, due to Covid-19. So, since I can’t sew the masks for my family (we have a mask mandate in our area), I AM able to make the t-shirt yarn, thanks to you! The written tutorial was very helpful too! On our daily walks, I spoke with a neighbor I did not know, across her yard & she said she is making masks to sell, if I knew anyone needing them. I bought 2 right then, and ordered 8 more. But the elastic going around the ears drove my son crazy, so I made & used t-shirt yarn & made one continuous strip go through the side casings & tie on top of the head. He had not been able to buy any masks either, so at least now he has 2, until my sewing machine part comes! Bless you!

Here is an idea for using the rib eye neck piece once you have trimmed it away. It's perfect for a headband for yourself or your daughters. You can even sew buttons or other cute accessories on it.

I have a few high school shirts that I think I'm going to do this to. They have sentimental value so I dont want to just throw them out, but I also have nowhere in my drawers for them anymore. I can knit them in with some other sentimental shirts and make a variant of a milestone quilt.

With the help of ring with screws you fix the T shirt. Your big piece cutting or neck cutting is ok for making round mop. You can also make horizontal. You buy one mop with only rubber at the base used for removal of water. You buy scew with round head and two sides opening used for fixing electricity wires. You male and female strips used by tailor. You take Male strips...... and fix it on horizontal mop with help of screws with two sides opening. Female strips you stichTshirt cutting larger size which you have cut. You can remove your mop very quickly because handling male female strips is easy . You can keep aside and put another Tshirt mop on the same stick. The cleaning process will be better , easier and faster. Rest you know. You are too much artistic. My English is not good. Please try to understand what I want to say. Namh shivay. Dear friend. I will happy when you will make vedio on this topic. I am giving one idea for making dust pan. You take 20 liter or 10 liter or 5 liter plastic drum as per as requirement. You cut it give shape of dust pan. You buy screws with nut and take one wooden stick of desired requirement. Fix this wood to plastic dust pan using screws with nut bolt. Why I am suggesting nut bolt because with time it gets loosened, If ever it gets loosened you can fix it. Namh shivay.

Sewed up a few simple little fish & a ball, combined shredded balls of yarn that were too small to use, mixed stuffing and organic cat nip , sewed them shut and POW my 2 fuzz faces went to town lol

This video may have been made 6 years ago but it is even more relevant today when we should be recycling/reusing as much as possible. I like how you used every little bit of the tee, and I even have a way to use the seams and other parts left over: In the garden! Those little strips would be great to tie up tomatoes and other plants that want to spread out and fall over. TFS! (BTW, making a plarn waste basket right now.)

Now that was truly a fabulous earth saving way to Upcycle something that most consider waste into something so rewarding, I’m impressed!
