Y'all this easy squash casserole is very comforting. It's that time of the year to enjoy our comfort foods so let's make something shake and make this easy peasy dish. Hope y'all enjoy.
4 med size squash ( about 2 lbs roughly)
1 Lrg onion
1 stick of butter
1 sleeve of crackers
1 cup of milk
2 Lrg eggs
tlb spoon of Garlic fresh or minced
tlb spoon each- garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, dill seed, chopped basil.

I keep my juice after it's cooked. if there's any left over, the next day I will add the juice back in with it. so that it's not dry when I heat it up. It gives it a good flavor.

I’m 72 and my Mom was like you in the kitchen and she would throw stuff together , add simple spices and it would turn out fit for a Kings table! Yep, you bring back some sweet memories of thing I’d almost forgotten.

I have grown every possible summer squash in my garden. Straight neck, crooked neck, black beauties and Mexican gray. They are all interchangeable and delicious. They are all beautiful to look at. This recipe here is the standard. I love your comparison to mac n cheese. Healthier but just as good!

It's been a while since I made squash casserole, so looked yours up on here. This is a good one, but I used zucchini & yellow squash together... I've gotten so much from my garden this year! I had to use the closed caption as my hubby was watching TV & got tickled at the way the person who wrote out your words spelled things!! They must have had a time translating your southern accent... lol I made this many moons ago & glad to have you to refresh my memory... I'm 73 yrs God Bless

This is how you make good squash casserole!.. So close to my mom's recipe (just different cheeses and spices..).. but you can do that with this.. just like she says!.. My dad taught me how to make my grandma's fried yellow squash sandwiches when i was about 13 or 14. I remember my grandma also use cucumbers instead of yellow squash.

Hi Shante: Just want you to know I've watched your video twice now so I'm sure what to do. I did do one thing different. i had some old nasty squash I forgot to use in the garden I felt bad about wasting. I just cut them up and cooked and omg, they're tender! They're ready to go. I had to cut them up more than usual but that's ok .I'm so happy I'm up to this point. I can't wait to taste it after watching the fun you had eating it. Thanks Joan so so much I really appreciate that. Happy cooking and I know it's going to turn out perfect. I have a video that will be coming out on tomorrow evening I just took a much needed break. ( insider) I finally reached my 5000 subscriber mark and NOW I feel as though I can make a new video. Thanks so much enjoy.

@@ShakeitupwithShante OMG, I just had my second helping. It's so crunchy, cheesy, flat out wonderful. I can't tell you enough how happy I am I took a chance on my miserable old squash! It was past using, really. I had to cut off the hard outer part because it was hard as a rock. I kept cutting til I got to the meat. It worked. I did have a few decent ones too. It all cooked up so tender. Thank you thank you. I'm a fan and I'll be back! Love, Joan

The way you taste it makes me laugh, only cause I do the same thing. I can tell you know a thing or two about comfort food. Your casserole looks great!
