You have to have clammy hands for this to work. Dry hands won't create the necessary seal. Licking your palms helps and, as a bonus, grosses out your audience.

Interesting. I've been doing this since the 6th grade. But your video made me realize that there is more than one way to play the "hand horn." I put my right hand on top, which makes the air come out the back.

Also, if you practice enough, you can do it with any solid surface with a rubbery-skin like texture, you can do it with your forehead and eye sockets

Yea typically I use it just for pleasure, but it is also functional as a way to break awkward silences, provide ambience, and even demonstrate some basic physics principles. Not quite as useful as the real thing to be totally honest, but it is much easier to conjure up.

For me its far easier to use a grip in which all fingers are interlocked, i can make a loud with sound with squeezing and releasing
