@@beadaholique Am at the very beginning of using this wrapping technique. Was so motivated by your videos, tried messing around with materials I already had. Have been using the fishing line to make beaded Rosaries. Line is stiff enough, so a needle is not needed for stringing. However, I don't know the durability of the fishing line...may lose strength as years go by. Also read somewhere that fishing line contains lead, which would be terrible, since I work with it a lot.

Here's the 6lb. fishing line we use most in our work: beadaholique.com/products/fireline-braided-beading-thread-6lb-test-and-0-006-thick-50-yards-crystal-clear It's durable stuff, we have pieces in the studio made over 10 years ago that are still strong. When used for fishing long exposure to intense reflected sunlight over many trips can age lines, but when it's used in jewelry and covered in beads it's protected from the elements. Some specialty fishing line is made with a lead core, and trace amounts of lead may detectable on other lines that use the same machinery. But as far as I know that's a very low risk of exposure and may not be an issue at all with the Fireline that's sold to the beading industry.

Yes I think these would be a good beginner kit, the weaving is nice and simple, and there's no complicated knotting or wire wrapping or anything like that. You may have to back track now and then to fix a mistake, but that happens to us all and this is a forgiving project.

I think so yes, though it will be a little less stiff and may not hold its shape as neatly. A alternative we've used for wrap bracelets in the past is waxed cotton cord, which has a nice bit of stiffness to it. 1.5mm is a good size: beadaholique.com/products/waxed-cotton-cord-1-5mm-round-black-5-meters-16-5-feet

Yes, I have cut off those flimsy needles and used size 12. Beading needle. No problem!

Delicas will give you a slightly more uniform look with a sharply defined pattern and beads that fit together snugly. Round seed beads will also work, they'll give the pattern a looser more traditional feel

Singing Bananas I was just wondering the same thing. Maybe they think it looks Native American.

The first and third kit have a kitch Native American-from- a- whiteman's-perspective type vibe from the 1960's and 1970's . Maybe that is supposed to be appealing. I've met middle age men who like those colors because they remind them of thier boyhoods. Native people today make better jewelry, at least where I live.

And what colors would you suggest? Maybe turquoise, bronze, green, purple hues? Dash of salmon thrown in?
