I have only sewn curves under duress, and it was for boat upholstery. When I first saw this in my notifications I thought there is no way I'll ever sew that but love to watch someone else sew curves. I wasn’t sure at first if I would like this technique. But I am glad I watched it through. I put the tools on my shopping list. I bet this would work with layer cakes. I love it in the flannels. Can’t wait to try it.

Full disclosure: Bethany is my sister so I am biased. One thing that Bethany and our mother had in common, is that they both have this incredible skill to make extraordinarily beautiful things that look complicated but are actually not that difficult to make, because of their clever design. One thing that Bethany has all on her own an amazing eye for color choice. Bethany would design these incredible patterns and quilts, and then she would make them absolutely spectacular because of the beautiful fabric choices that she would make. One thing that Bethany didn’t point out in this video is that this pattern is also a subtle way to help teach quilters who aren’t great with color how to use color combinations more confidently. Make the blocks, lay them out, move them around: not every block is going to be amazing. But some will be and the end result will be. I watched this entire video and really enjoyed it. I ❤️ Maywood Studio's Woolies Flannel! Try the Sew Kind of Wonderful curved rulers. I've made several orange peel quilts and several Woolies Flannel quilts and just love them!

While I have never sewn “my first quilt” (even though I’ve sewn evening & office attire, children’s clothing to soft home furnishings) the mere thought of trying to quilt curves scared the daylights out of me…😳😬 literally!!! Flannel shrinks so much so just wanted to know if you prewashed/preshrunk everything? I would totally make this quilt for those cold Minnesota nights. Bethany Miller is a completely talented designer and I love that she thinks outside the box.

Hi Brenda - We didn't prewash this flannel prior to creating this project. We typically don't prewash our fabrics, but some people do prefer to do that. Now, if you're mixing cotton and flannel fabrics, please do prewash those. Hope this helps! And yes, we are so blessed by Bethany's creative mind :) -Michelle

I love this, what a great idea Bethany! I bought the kit to make it. But I'm wondering if I could use cotton fabric for this instead of flannel? I live in Arizona, it's warmer here in winter.

Beautiful quilt, love the technique, Very clever too :). Does the pattern include the amounts for using precuts or is it just for yardage? I have some flannel layer cakes I would love to use for this. Thank You

This quilt measures approximately 65-1/2" x 65-1/2" and if you are making that size, there are about 100 units in the quilt. This is a fantastic quilt! Happy that you love it and thanks for your comment! - Abby
