This is just fantastic. Probably the most economical method I've seen, not to mention the simplest. I now think a little kitchen reno project is well within reach. Hopefully I know someone with a table saw! Or maybe they're even available to rent? I'm hopeful and excited. Thank you so much!

i needed 9 cabinet doors,cheapest i could find were $30 each plus shipping. Well over $300 and i still had to paint and add hardware. On a table saw,yes you can but it is not consistent and takes a little time plus dado blades are like $120. I decided to build my own doors as in the video. Cost was around $8 each!. With the money i was saving building my own doors,i went to lowes and bought a router/table combo for $150 and a T&G bit set for $80. So in the end,i came out to around the same price as if i had bought them but i got a router a table and a nice bit set! The router was so much faster and consistent.

Awesome tutorial on making doors. One critique I’d point out for people just getting into using a table saw: using a miter gauge in combination with the rip fence is not a great idea. A safer option is to set a block at the start of the fence, then your work piece slides past/off it as you push the work piece to the blade. Perhaps it is ok since your cutting a rabbet as opposed to through cut, but worth mentioning.
@susied8795
@susied8795 3 жыл бұрын
I've been told (via Steve Ramsey's videos) that the exception to the rule of no fence/miter gauge is when you're making a rabbet because it isn't a through cut, so there's no loose piece that can be pinched between the blade and fence and potentially thrown.

I'm always making floating tongues. Easier and quicker to make since you only need to make grooves and use left-overs from your panels to make the tongues.

Would love to see the jig needed to cut raised panels on a sliding table saw. The big issue is that the blade inclines toward the fence, as opposed to the one shown in the video. This means fixing a jig to the sliding table and feeding the whole assembly past the blade.

Yeah, but even a weekend carpenter should have a table saw and chop saw. Right? I'm amazed at how much better work I could do when I got the right tools. :) I don't know why I haven't bought (or made) a feather board to hold my work piece safely against the fence yet.

Old comment, but unless I’m mistaken the haunch cut is unnecessary as that material is already removed by cutting the groove.

Not clear why a snug fit is not best. You wanted them to fit slightly loose. If it was for glue, you did not put glue along the edges of the panels. Why not snug?
