How to Make Virtual Machines Talk to Each Other in VirtualBox

How do you make two virtual machines talk to each other and the Internet in VirtualBox? This video explains how to do this.
Short answer:
1. Create a new NAT Network in VirtualBox, by going to Tools in VirtualBox Manager / Network.
2. Click on the + sign to add a new NAT network.
3. Click on the Gear icon to change the new NAT network settings.
4. Add each guest (virtual machine) to this new NAT network - in the guest menu, go to Machine / Settings / Network.
5. Change "Attach to:" to "NAT Network" and select the NAT Network you created.

Thanks for clearing this up! Note: On the newer versions of VirtualBox the Network setting is in a different location so you must press the icon that is located right of the pin icon in the "Tools" menu(the one with the wrench and screwdriver)

Very straightfoward and worked like a charm 5 years later! The GUI options look a bit different on virtualbox but this still worked.

If you run into the same issue as I did and have the same IPs for cloned VMs: Go to Network Settings > Advanced > Refresh the Mac Address for one of the machines. The Virtualbox Host assigns depending on MAC (Hardware) Addresses and as cloned machines have obviously the same MAC (D''oh), they will be assigned the same IP eventhough theyre different individual machines. After the change of the MAC Address, reboot the changed machine (or wait, but I'd reboot) and you should be there with two different IP's. Otherwise, a very nice tutorial and of course there is no need to explain this particular error as it might not be common!
