I love this video for showing me how to melt sprues... first time I'd ever heard of that and I am excited to play around with it. Only criticism I have is I wish you had showed the mold you used to get the texture on the side panels. I get that you plan to feature it in another video, and it would be holy appropriate to make a video showing how to create that mold... but I still wish you had showed it being used and gave an idea of how long into the drying process we should use it.

My jaw nearly hit the floor when I saw you using the goo to make parts with. I always thought the best one could do with sprues was to cut them apart and glue the pieces back together in funny ways, so i've been recycling most of mine for years. This is making me think twice about that!

I recently used some Round Sprue too add some spikey bits to an Ork Warboss I was making. Just sharpen one end slightly, cut it off as flat as possible and attach it. Once it's on you can shape it to match the model a little better with a hobby knife. Any leftover gaps can just be filled with green stuff/crack filler. Worked like a charm and I have you to thank! Cheers from Canada!

Love theses vids :). I got a slight ocd when it comes to sorting and saving as much space as i can. If you need more space i would recommend spending a day or 2 pre cutting all the sprues so you can have boxes ready with long, short, nibbley nobbaly bits and also one for shapes . Would definitely free up the voided space between them all and could fit a lot more all in 1 box :)

Apparently btw this works with ABS plasric too. Which is what toys and the external parts of lots of consumer products are made of. There are industrial solvents for gluing that stuff together thst are less fume-intensive than straight acetone. Plastruct and possibly other brands make solvents that can weld ABS to model styrene too.

Seeing the patchy end result of these crates I think you could do something around an Astra Militarum unit left without support. It would be nice seeing a build with the smoother panels you mention, even if it takes longer to make. Maybe something to work on alongside the Orky/Nurgly builds you do regularly to keep the content stream going.

I know I'm late to the party, but this is a great video. I'm glad a found your channel and this video. This video is the reason I found out about sprue goo. But I have a question: how do you get it to cure/harden while still being able to get it off whatever surface it's sitting on? I've tried my hand at making a sheet or panel with the goo on wax paper so I don't make a mess, but it just sticks to it as it hardens. I may not be leaving it long enough, but I thought I'd ask. Once again, love your channel and look forward to watching more of your stuff!

Back in like 1996 or so I was building something in cardboard and using PVA as a strengthener. When I painted acrylic onto it I had the cracking. So I thought what if I mix PVA into the acrylic? Well not only did that layer not crack, and that layer also appear to softened the visible cracks of the layer below it, but it also added a bit of rigidity. I didn’t try varnishing over it tho so idk how well that would work.
