I've seen others who instead of using cardboard for the frame use a cut out soda or beer can. I think it's much easier especially since you have to keep using water it will keep the edges and corners much sharp.

Nice diy vid. I do all this in 1/64. I’m thinking of moving to 1/18 if I can find a source for affordable super cars. Any suggestions? Love your work as always. Ever use aluminum can for the fender form?

Brands like 1:18 Welly and basic 1:18 HW are a good budget place to start, but with effort can give you a fine model car when you are finished.

@@colossalbigfoot256 you could also do bburago and maisto, they're cheaper than hot wheels 1:18 models, the detail isn't as good but they're pretty customizable

Hey I’ve never made a model car before but you got me with this video! Im looking to wide-body a 1:24 2020 Toyota supra from tamiya possibly. Any other brand recommendations? Would going 1:18 be easier as a first model car? Also, would you recommend buying a complete car and disassembling it to widebody to have a solid frame? Or would going full kit build make it easier? I also wanted to ask how many boxes of the smooth putty do you end up using? From the video it seemed like it didn’t come with much, so I was wondering if you recommend getting more than 1. Sorry for all the questions! I’ve just been so fascinated by your videos and really want to make this first project awesome. Thank you in advance!

The putty actually goes a long way, but it depends on how big you are going to make your fenders. I box of putty will do most cars, but buy 2 boxes just in case. After you make your first car, you will get an idea of how far the putty will go.

Would like ask, just entered the 1/18 scene. I'm into JDM, was wondering for Ignition model, make up, and GT Spirit. For the price and quality, which brand would you choose? Are there also some other brand(s) that makes awesome 1/18 JDM? Thank you so much in advance. Much appreciated.
@ROBSMODELCARS
@ROBSMODELCARS 4 жыл бұрын
All those brands make JDM models, as well as AUTOart and OneModel although I have never seen One models efforts so cannot tell you the quality. GT Spirit will be the cheapest, then AA, and so on. Ignition are the masters of JDM and probably have the largest range of models to choose from. Make Up i very high quality too. If your over in Europe, go to www.Carmodelz.com for Ignition models, and if your closer to Asia, go to www.CLDC.store for Ignition models

@@ROBSMODELCARS just one more question. Is it possible to make a part away from the model and then stick it on? For example front splitter where i need to create few gaps between the bumper and the splitter. Also I'm thinking of making the headlight body out of it and a fuel tank.
