Taking the lid off to let the milk cool down is such a great suggestion. Thank you for saving me an extra hour or two of wait time!

Made yogurt to your recipe in my ninja. Super, doopa! When my girls were babies (50 years ago) I used Harringtons gold nappies and muslin liners. Being brought up just after the war nothing went to waste and kept the Terry nappies for dusters and the muslin liners (boiled several times) made superb strainers for jellies etc. I sewed a couple of tabs on them and now use them for straining my yogurt in the manner you suggested from the kitchen cupboard doors. My mother would have been proud! Hope you are!

My first time making yoghurt with my new Ninja - came to look how long the milk took to boil after waiting 20 minutes. So glad I did - your tip about checking it was on yoghurt setting not slow cook was exactly where I was going wrong! Obvious now I know what to look for, but not as a first timer. Here goes!

Thanks for your tips. I usually make my yoghurt in an instapot. 2L milk, 2 cups powdered milk, half tsp yoghurt 1 probiotic capsule. Took longer to cool down after boiling, but fermentation was shorter... I did keep lid on as it makes the yoghurt creamier with a warm cool-down. Looking at your video, I'd go with a glass lid next time during cool down (as I do with instapot)... Aussie here, we have lots of bugs. Don't want anything crawling in for a lovely warm bath. 😂😂

Truly, thanks a lot for this, the translated manual does not talk about how long it takes to boil and cool and I was worried I did something wrong. A lot of good tips in this video, it’s really good. :)

Thanks Sue! My Ninja foodi is coming on tuesday and my first job for it will be yogurt, so just checking up to see if I need anything else apart from the milk and yogurt for the culture. Also to see how the Ninja does the yogurt program, now I know, so thanks for the help!

Very informative video ..there is though a reason why you should let it cool with the lid on as harmful bacteria start to develop at around 40 degrees celsius so you want to keep the time when the pot is open as short as possible and at cooler temperatures

Thanks for the video ! Wish I had watched this before doing mine... I didn't skim the skin off and there's a lot of bits in my yogurt that wont stir out. I also left the lid on while cooling so it took ages. With that extra time and the 8 hours incubation the end result was 'whey' too sour for me. Will give it another shot with this method!

Ho Sue, fabulous tutorial, best I've seen yet. How long do you hang the yogurt for it to strain? I'm unsure to leave it out over night, of fear of it going off. Cheers.

@@alexkelly757 no I haven’t. However I tend not to strain it and it’s fine, just a bit grainy and looser.

I'm sure you said , after the milk had boiled and then cooled that"you can add any old yoghurt" My understanding is the yoghurt must be plain and be a "live" yogurt with live cultures. Do correct me if I have got it all totally wrong. Thank you for the video that was easy to follow. However, I used headphones and the volume was very quiet.

I’m new to ninja and so far your videos are the best I’ve watched (I’ve watched a lot) so thank you, on average how long does the yogurt last once you’ve make it? Fridged and frozen? I’m really looking forward to trying this but don’t want to end up wasting it. X

Thank you for useful video. However, I don't know why it's the second time I give it a go and never get the 'stir in' message on display after 10 minutes. I eventually opened the lid and added the yogurt in, 6 hours to go from now let's see! X
