That guy on the ladder...he experienced a miracle. The timing on his accident was PERFECT! He just somehow escaped a severely broken leg, or both. That one leg actually went THROUGH the rungs, as he was falling down the ladder. If the timing had been off one iota -- he would not be getting up off the ground saying he was ok. Just miraculous.

No one would. But the point is here that horses can be notoriously 'spooky' and can dart and bolt into a dead run -- blinded by fear. Spooked by another car, a noise, a leaf twittering in the wind, could send a horse head on into a car or broadside. That would get a horse accidentally run over.

No one had too much sympathy for the friend, I mean it was an accident waiting to happen, horses in two fields, with no fences and divided by a poorly lit road. Everyone just knew to drive slowly, well other than my friend who couldn't be bothered to do that.
