Another tip is to mix shapes. Most furniture pieces are either square or rectangular. So intentionally adding oval and round items such as coffee / side tables, lamps, light fixtures, trays, mirrors etc will also help to balance out a room.

one quote in your other video that made a huge impact for me here is that symmetry does not equal balance! you can be balanced without being symmetric! 8:16

Yes! This was honestly so groundbreaking for me when I first started thinking about it. I love symmetry, but it's not always the vibe. But taking *balance* into account in asymmetrical layouts is the key to making them work. Glad you're watching and getting value!!

Omg this is a vibe lol. Whenever trying to merge different style, I think finding balance is key! Let the more neutral style be the foundation and the more playful style give it some character! Think 80% neutral minimalism with 20% eclectic chaos to spice it up (and keep you both happy)

Can we talk about why every Pinterest “male living space” is just black and brown walls, with used pipes on the walls, and wooden appliances like headphones and computers. Talk about boring and uninspired. 😴😴😴 4:52

Yeah I totally feel this. Gender is a lie - masculine design can look however you want it to.
