I don't wear extensions either but I can sure tell when someone is wearing them

you could braid the hair you cut off from the extensions and attach that over the band so it look like a crown type braid

I wear wigs at times, and a trick is to use foundation/concealer on the parts where the scalp should be shown. You could try doing that in the middle of the band. The rest will probably be covered. Not putting your hair in a distinctive part, so you don't see your scalp where it parts, could also help hide it. Or if you have enough hair and it can work with the hairstyle, grab some hair near the extensions, or a little further back, fold it so the tips are the same direction as the bangs, and then clip it. It might take a few clips. Honestly, I find this to be a hassle, so I just buy wigs instead. All depends what you're gonna use it for.
