I wanted to tell you how glad I was to find this video. I am 64 years old with arthritic hands, so my wife has to help me slip this on, but the best thing for someone on a fixed income is that you saved me 20+ dollars. Your folks must be very proud of you. I know I would be. Thanks very much!

Bill Craig I think the trick is to use a old sock. I've got loads of unused pair of socks I got as Xmas presents.

I have been carrying my phone and ipod in a bag slug around my neck for over a year now and am begining to get teased for it. Your idea is simply brilliant. Thanks howtostu!
@sanjoykumarroy9 жыл бұрын
Nice one. To all out there who think it will slip, IT WILL NOT. U just need to slide the phone between the two layers and that was the precise reason the sock was pulled back within itself.
@travisgardner39949 жыл бұрын
This worked perfectly. I just grabbed an old dress sock and went for a 3 mi run. Thanks for the tip!

I'm am a seamstress and was going to make a arm band like they have in the stores but this idea is shear genius. Thank you for sharing!!!
@townsendstephen6 жыл бұрын
Stu, this is absolutely perfect. I use a holder that scratches my arm with the velcro, cuts off circulation sometimes, has metal eye holes which stain my arm as I sweat in the run and as you point out, cant be washed. Thank you. My next run is in 2 days and will be with a sock on my arm.

Amazing! Thank you so much for posting - after returning two different bands that wouldn't fit my comically huge phone this worked like a charm. And was only $3! Thank you!!

For everyone playing Fallout 4 but don't yet have the money for the Pipboy edition (or don't want to open it when you do), use this same technique but after covering your phone with the outer layer, use a pair of scissors to cut around the edges of the screen (for obvious reasons, I wouldn't recommend an exact-o knife). While it's not as aesthetically pleasing, it serves as a functional Pipboy and it's a whole lot better than just picking up your phone to look at the app.

+WendigoPsychosis this is the EXACT reason I looked at this video!! Thanks!
@WendigoPsycho8 жыл бұрын
After going through two socks because they kept ripping, I learned that duct tape, cardboard, and an old belt case was a whole lot more durable and comfortable. Maybe I should make a video on how to make one.

Great Idea...I did the same after finding a written article on this, but went a bit farther. Took the extra length like you but sewed a rubber band on the bottom and the top so it holds a bit better and it's easier to slip on cause I sewed half the top together. For waterproofing I put my cell in a ziploc...it's waterproofing for a few cents (no I don't use my earbuds while cycling, but I do listen to music).

WOWWW!!! i DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! The last part when you slipped it on…I thought there was much more steps after you flipped the sock over half way.

Tried this while running marathon, worked perfectly. To secure it at its maxium have the sock on your skin and try to have a running jumper over it. Then it will never fall out

Thank you for this video! I would never have thought of doing this. I got on KZfaq to look at reviews for armbands, but I couldn't find anything I liked well enough to spend the money. This way was free! I used a lycra-type sock, which is great because it stretches thin enough to sort of see the screen, and I can use the touch screen through the sock. Also, like you said, it can be washed. Overall, I would recommend this over purchasing one. Thanks again!

So happy to see this: so simple, yet effective. One can change designs, depending on mood. I haven't tried it yet, but I might put a small safety pin to secure the top, just in case. Thanks you so much for sharing the information. Will make good "stocking stuffers." Good delivery: short and to the point!

just wanna say that I tried this but when i was running it was not strong enough to hold my phone.
@abl067510 жыл бұрын
This works great, but I'd like to add one more thing. Cut the sock more like two and a half times the length of the device. That way you will have material to tuck over and behind your phone or mp3 player. If you make the sock just twice as long and just slip the device in, you can't raise your arm over your head or your device will fall out.
@zararockyourlife10 жыл бұрын
I've had that same idea but it won't be very good for the headphones though because tucking excess sock in would bend the wire. Unless we make a hole right above the sock for the headphones
@abl067510 жыл бұрын
TzeeHui Chen There you go. Thanks. Make a hole in the sock for the headphone wire. Problem solved. I intend to try it once my replacement mp3 player arrives. (The old one fell out and broke when I was pressing weights overhead.)
