Everyone asking... these are called "self-cover buttons", "craft cover buttons", or just "cover buttons". Just search for "cover buttons" and "cover button press" or "cover button tool".

Will this work with duck cloth? I tried a diy kit different from this from Hobby Lobby and it is impossible to push the back cover on using the duck cloth

+This Is Your Brain On Crafts it would be unlikely. Canvas upholstery fabric is a struggle and I'd guess that cross stitch is a little thicker.
