Bonus tip: try to emp before you are in the range because the drone is way faster than running so the enemies have less time to react. Also, practice timing to exit your drone a bit before the emp strikes so that you can see enemies' shield colour

I've been searching for more Crypto content creators since I unlocked him. I love thinking about how to mess a team up with the direction I approach them in-drone, how I can hide it, and the banner rezz strat is singlehandedly what convinced me to get him after having a teammate save me with it once. I just won my second BR pubs today on him using that very thing, and it was sooooo satisfying. You didn't mention it, but if you need to distract an enemy as your teammates close in, fly around their head a little. It absolutely infuriates most players, and I've seldom been shot down doing it, and it distracts them from their impending fate...

Crypto can also play defensive role, using his drone to watch for enemy flanks while you arent using it can save the squad from quick wipeouts. Drone positioning is monumental.

As a Crypto main I should say Crypto is definitely the best recon legend! He deserves better pick rate And also a better buff He's one of the most useful legends in the game as you can see in ALGS he has one of the most pick rates

Ash/Wraith, Newcastle, Crypto is pretty damn good. The ability to port to enemies or even your Crypto if pretty darn good. Gives Crypto an opportunity to catch up as well and newcastle can rez if needed. Love it

Another great help is putting the map on rotate helps while in the drone and place the drone behind you incase of a surprise 3rd party when your fighting a squad mid range also don't emp teammates while you push a squad

As a Crypto main with 500ish kills who just now got into Silver (brimming with skill, I know), the fact that I'm doing a lot of these tips already, seeing this guy do things in game I either try to do and fail, or do some variation of their plan, gives me hope I'm doing something right with the class. I just need to get good. Also, favorite thing about Crypto's ultimate is on top of how many things it affects, it also charges up pretty fast so you can use it often.

The only note I have is that it would be good to explicitly say that you can ping the giant banners themselves to inform your teammates of the nearby squad totals when you mentioned that ability. I don't see many fellow Cryptos in the wild of the pubs, but none of the ones I run into use mics or take the time to ping the team this info. For example knowing for sure that there's a team in the area after we take down a squad and are going for the boxes can change a game.

Great video and tips! Also respect the shoutouts to other crypto mains. I didn't know about the trick where you can heal yourself while piloting the drone. Sadly it only works when you throw the drone, not when it's already up. But still a really good and useful information that!! I wanted to ask, which type of weapons do you think fit with Crypto the best in your opinion (sniper, shotguns, smgs etc)? I mostly have heard that Crypto favors long range weapons because he can naturally be behind from his teammates so he can help them from a longer distance, but I'm really curious about your opinion on this :D

Amazing guide, the only thing I didn't know was that you still got crafting materials while opening chests in-drone I do have a question. A lot of the time movement characters will be miles ahead of you when they engage in a fight. Do you spend the extra 10-20 seconds to catch up to them before using your ult or do you go into drone to ult on the enemy as soon as they start fighting?

Late to the vid. But i just got crypto and was looking for a guide. Seen plenty of teir lists ranking him so low and bc of his reliance on his drone for his kit i can understand why ppl feel that way. But after playing him for a couple games i gotta say their sleeping on him hard. First off his drone, its probably my favorite way to scan and gather information simply bc it keeps you safe while gathering that info and if theirs an enemy team they get no info out of the ability whatsoever. What i mean by this is that with bloodhounds tac scan it can go through walls but good players will see the direction its coming from and have a good idea of where you are so if you want to cath them by suprise you would have to flank to the oposite side that they expect you whcih just gives them more time to prepare for you and your team. Seers tac can disrupt but if you miss then the enemy has a better idea of where you are bc the tunnel like tac is a beam straight back to your location. if your in range it can give infinite walls for as long as its up until its shot down. Which means that if they dont shoot the drone then you have the advantage with those walls being up for as long as you want them. Smart players will shoot it down first rather than waiting which can give you the opportunity to rush them and catch them when their giving too much attention to your drone. Now if they stop shooting the drone to turn to you and it lives then you hqve walls up still. If they finish it and try to turn their attention to you then you have the advantage still bc you were able to shoot first, they also have to reload or at the very least wont oneclip you bc they used some ammo on the drone. Now emp i havent had much time with but being able to both see their sheilds crack through walls which lets you know their location inside a building, and the fact that they now have to either use a battery to get them back (wasting their amount of resources for later in the fight) or try to take a fight with little or no sheilds at all gives you a better advantage. Not to mention trying to push a building thats filled with caustic or wattson traps can be difficult but emp can both break all of them and break their sheilds ontop of slowing them. So now that team has nothing to discourage you from pushing in and doesnt even have alot of sheilds or any to try to challenge your push. As a control main ive always wanted to play something more aggressive and struggled handling other controls when i wasnt a control legend myself in that game. I liked recons to hqve the information like watching out for third parties or knowing where ppl are without putting myself but most of them gave the enemy too much information on me even though id get a bit more information out of it. Cryptos just great for getting the info i need without letting the enemy know my general location and having an aggressive ult that can give me an advantage and get rid of any traps standing in my way.

I didn’t realize you can adjust the camera’s height using buttons until seeing this video thanks for the small tip I just use analog sticks to control the height and it was kinda complicated to use lol

Ive tried throwing my drone on a pad and I've never seen that! Over 40k on PC and I'm still learning new things. Love this guide! something I would probably add is how you can fly drone while hanging on a ledge and your movement is limited to 180 degrees. (This one is niche and really depends on a situation) you can bounce your grenades off the drone to catch people on awkward angles you can't push. It's difficult to be super consistent but really valuable once in a while works best for arc stars frags, thermites are a weird mess 😅

Just switched to Crypto very recently. I believe my very aggresive play style on Lifeline didnt mesh with my ranked teams skill level and Cryptos slower passive style has improved my winrate considerably.

Crypto main since unlocking here, I’ve only been playing since season 8, and Crypto is just the best legend for me, and not just in terms of his abilities If I’m using a legend like Revenant or Bangalore, I’m missing every shot, if I’m using Crypto or Pathfinder, I am beaming enemies with the R99, I am hitting every Wingman shot, I am ruining days with the Kraber, I am just almost incapable of missing a shot when I play Crypto or Pathfinder (or Mirage) And so I use Crypto for the amazing abilities and phenomenal aim he gives me

So, a season 1 vet, i am trying him out in ranked now, and I'll say a few things, before watching this, thanks for it btw..❤️ Subbed I noticed team camping on banners till they expire is so prevelant and with his buffs i had to try the best squad banner capturer In battles like all my drops i let 3 or 4 squads drop then i trail behind the pack.... And hope 2 land close, i land around that and try to third party within 20 seconds.... Drone goes straight up and in air hard to see and shoot... I don't have to worry about dying going into a building with 8 gas traps around my teams banner..... Ill stay away, get out of there.... Do my thang u know? His ULT is bae and OP love it..... His recon scans.... What else? Oh enemies in area passive.... What else? Dudes legit af i love him for honestly so many dumb teammates that could still be useful to shoot some thing in a top 5..... Before id abandon banner cards just because it would be suicide for whole team, LITERALLY only person who can just yeet the cards back and enemies can't do shit if u fly it well

i mained him for many seasons before the rework, after the rework it kinda messed me up when i played him. u cant recall the drone when u revive? that sucks i used that alot

My friend always plays Maggie and I noticed Maggie and Crypto are the bread and butter of winning any fight Cryptos emp cracks the shields, Maggie uses ult to get in their faves and since a peacekeeper can down them in 1 shot if shot correctly which they can do

Wish they add quality of life changes. Like ping banner for numbers of enemy around with goin into drone. Dont damage self on EMP keep slow to make it not too OP. Add more health to drone its too fragile maybe 150 health instead of 50. Throw vertical will scan 360 until reach max Distance

Crypto's great but I think he needs a buff where he can emp but your teammates will not be stunned or slowed by the emp but Crypto will still be emp and take the -50 damage.

I’ve heard that some Crypto players sit back and fire at their enemies while the drone is out. Then when they run out of ammo they reposition the drone witch reloads the gruns and just keep doing that
