Venture X is a great card, i use it as a catch all paired with Amex gold. Really need more capital one lounges though.

This is my primary setup. I wish Capital One had a Freedom Flex-like 5% category card to make it a nice Capital One trifecta.

I’m Denver based, and this really opened my eyes to some things I never gave much thought to before

I currently have the VentureX and Amex Gold as my setup. But if I get tired of the Uber/Grubhub hoops, I might just switch to the SavorOne.

I find myself using the Venture X a lot for non category spend. Maybe adding the Savor One might be a move I make in the future. Just have too many other cards right now.

I use this setup quite a bit as it's very economical, and simple. Sure I'm leaving money on the table, but I think that's worth it to not have 10 credit cards and have to balance those and keep track. Capital One doesn't have domestic airlines, but you can always use airline alliances to book domestic, sometimes cheaper than the domestic carrier. Although I do wish Capital One had better hotel partners, or gave you status at a hotel.

🦄Love this duo, it is my main setup along with Bilt for rent! 1) I went with SavorOne because I would not hit the breakeven point that makes the Savor's AF worth it. 2) I wish there would add a CapitalOne lounge in the northeastern US (especially in BOS), and a multiplier for non-portal travel spend would be amazing though the 2X catch-all has still been really nice!

I barely spend on the venture X because I like chase, but my parents and sister get priority pass

🦄 Thanks for the great info! I just got the Venture X and got back from a trip between IAD and DFW. The lounges were wonderful, and I started to think more about other cards. I’m still not sure if I want to have more cards as I really like having only one or two cards to think about, but it’s interesting to think about how other cards like Savor could bring me more value.

I wonder how you guys in the "CC Game" get around getting rejected due to high number of inquiries in your credit report. Have a >750 score, zero negatives, own home, no debt, very high income, no balances, about $250K in current CC credit lines, and yet got rejected by Wells Fargo for the free autograph due to "high number of inquiries". Seriously??

I may have to product change my old Quicksilver to a SavorOne. Never thought too much about it but my P2 does have the Venture X so this would give us an easy set up to run.

I have the Venture X and a ton of points for Capital one. But I prefer to fly economy and transfer partners usually don't work out so well for me. That's why I love my Sapphire Reserve. Been getting good deals using their portal. Trying to use up my Cap1 points with the erasing feature.

Is there a rule to prevent you from getting the Venture X sign-up bonus if you get the regular Venture first?

🦄 I went for Savor One and after your video ill need to confirm the math! But long term allow me to get other cards in addition and not feel any push to breakeven due to annual fee. The Venture X would be great if they offered a tiered SUB for those with slightly lower credit ratings.. or would that go against the idea of exclusivity?

🦄I applied for these cards after watching your videos. I love this duo; I got it last year, and it has been my go-to ever since. I prefer the Savor One since I'm not ready to commit to two cards with annual payments yet. Currently, I have about 350K miles, and I want to use them for first/business class travel to Asia for a family of four. However, I'm concerned that I might not have enough miles for this. I thanks for the video. Is it more difficult to get approved for the X card if you have a lot of points on the Savor? 🦄 I just was accepted for the Savor card. I just applied for the one with excellent credit. I don’t.t think I’m paying the yearly fee.

There's a 6 month cooldown on getting approved for Capital One cards. So you wont be able to move quickly to this setup.

Capital one entertainment is powered by vivid seats / ticket master. And the tickets are at the same price AFAIK. I booked concert tickets and nba ones. 8x is nice. You get them in your ticket master account as usual. 10/10 would do again. The savor I never get prequalify so keep using my CSP for groceries and freedoms for 5x. I mainly do flying blue so everything transfers there. And flying blue family means p1/p2/p3/p4 bonanza

Got denied for savor one even though I have venture X. Rejected me for opening too soon, even though my last card was the venture X and was like 8 months ago… capital one is just stupid in their application process.

Venture x + Savor One is a great combo. I actually like the wf autograph over the citi custom cash. It gives you a general travel bonus which is great for hotels when the C1 portal doesn’t work out. It also bonuses gas and streaming plus cell phone service and includes insurance. Plus the points are transferable to some of the same programs as C1.

🦄i use the ventureX but since Im a low spender I use 3 cards from bank of america with the 5.25% cash back to catch category spending by switching the categories around depending on what I am buying.

I just got the venture X but had the venture before. After signing up and I got the card. It told me the $300 credit was changed I have to use it thought the portal. Which is ok but a bummer and I feel mislead by venture card. But still good. We use Sam’s club or Costco cards to get 5% or 4% back on gas. I think they can get a status for a decent hotel brand that would be nice. Like Marriott or Hilton.

I love this concept but I hardly (if ever) spend on entertainment, streaming services or what they considered "groceries". (they exclude Walmart & Target) Is it still worth getting in my case, or would the QuickSilver be a better option? I have the VentureOne and planning to upgrade later down the road.

Agree on setup - my issue is that C1 doesn’t have 1:1 transfer to Eva Air, I think it’s 1.5:1. I’m a Citi stan for that reason. I wish the VX had better transfer rates. Also, an edge case but the Alt Reserve still has PP restaurants but capped at 8 visits per year. 🦄

C1 needs to up its hotel transfer partner game. However, I still ove the duo. I was honestly using miles travel eraser function as a catch-all for things I couldn't with miles elsewhere (Disney Cruise line). Then I got a USBAR and 4.5% on Apple Pay smokes everything in my duo.

I live in Chicago and technically😂 we do but dont have PP lounges. Swissport lounge will never allow PP holders into their lounge.. I really hope cap1 will create a lounge in O'hare!

🦄. If a person did use the citi custom cash for gas and ev charging, how can that translate into better rewards using two different card companies? Honestly a citi duo can work well for me also in my situation if i had the citi premier and double cash card. Issue would be lounge access and paying for it out of pocket.

Venture x would be nice to have a clear credit like the Amex platinum but that'll probably come with an increased fee. And as soon as I am out of 1 in 6 with capital one I will be going g for the savor. I had the Capital One Venture X previously, but canceled it. One thing I didn't hear anyone talking about was that Capital One's Travel Portal was consistently more expensive than other options. I was constantly losing out on value, paying more effectively just to use the Travel Portal, and at that point, is the effective cost only $5? Also, you lose out on a lot of benefits booking flights and hotels through the portal instead of booking directly. So, I don't know, it wasn't for me and I don't think it makes sense for a lot of people either.

Why is it so hard to get approved for this card when you have multiple cards? I keep getting denied saying i have too many rotating cards. But yet i see all these card guys getting approved. My score stays above 780, so thats not the issue

Perhaps make people aware of Capital One's 1/6 rule as I was just denied for a Venture X for a previous recent approval for a Savor. I enjoy your videos but this is not "expert mode" .

Another weakness is 0.5CPP cash out, unlike UR which is 1 CPP.

Due to Capital One’s subprime leanings, many people cannot become Venture-X cardholders. I’m in this group. For us, this video is of no value.

I would get the Savor if they let me upgrade my Quicksliver card to it since it is my oldest account.
