Great tips. Thank you, particularly the tip about the width of the tape measure 😱👍 I never knew. I've been sewing for decades but got so discouraged when I've worked so hard on a garment and it doesn't fit 😖😭, so thank you so much for breaking it down for me. 😊 It's much appreciated. Honestly - with a multi-size pattern, that is what you do - you just use the size you want for the area of your body. I have never learned the ins and outs of specific grading. I paid to have that done professionally for my pattern line.

Very good explanation, thank you! I’m a new sewist and I’m petite. Most pants are too long for me. Would I need to make length adjustments from hip to knee or from knee to ankle or split the difference between both?

It is always best to split the difference, altering at numerous places rather than all at one place. If there is shaping to the pant leg, you'll want to maintain that shape by shortening both above the knee and below the knee.

Please could you help me work out a bust measurement on a pattern that I have recently purchased called 'The Day Dress' by The Avid Seamstress' and is a indie pattern company. There are no measurements on the actual pattern paper pieces and the finished garment measurements on the back of the pattern are, 'Back neck to waist' & Back neck to hem. I want to work out the finished bust measurement. So where do I measure? is it under the arm? or where the dart is? Hope you can help me. Thank you :)

Measure all pieces that make up the circumference at the bust. Do NOT include seam allowances. Assuming the bust dart is hitting you at the right level, that would be where to measure. Watch the video again, and I think you'll see how it is done. That measurement needs to be at least 2" more than what you measure at the same place - 4: is even better. Sew with a pattern determined by your HIGH bust, not your full bust - see that video...
