Our customer requested that we mimic a slab of Fantasy Brown Marble with a soft linear flow that would compliment the colors in her flooring and her existing cabinetry. In this video I will show you the step-by-step epoxy countertop pour using Art Coat by Stonecoat Countertops and application of the Natural/Matte Ultimate Top Coat!

I would like to try this myself. I live in Hawaii and are humidity here gets very high. Will I have issues with how the product will react? If it's an issue what would you recommend I do to control my environment and or product? Mahalo in advance for your time and sharing your beautiful projects.

Humidity can definitely affect epoxy so you'd want to test it on some samples to see if it changes your working time or cure time. We live in a very dry area and only get humidity a little in summer. Our shop is temperature controlled though so I'd suggest making sure your pouring area is air conditioned and maybe add a dehumidifier.

Absolutely Beautiful! How in the world do you transport such long countertops, without breaking?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts
@ArtisanDesignConcepts 4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! We carry them vertically and sometimes use 2x4 bracing on the backside if it's really long.

Beautiful. Found the inspiration for my counters. Question: for the flood coat of Art Coat can you add veins of color or diamond dust with clear to it for more dimension or 3D effect? Then maybe do a final layer of Ultimate Top Coat?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts
@ArtisanDesignConcepts 5 ай бұрын
Thank you! And absolutely. I typically don’t add color additives into my flood coat but you can. I do however almost always add diamond dust or gold dust or silver glitter. I love doing a hint of diamond dust and a hint of silver glitter together.

How would you dry roll the UTC with a the counter in place? Sorry so many questions! Such a great video!
@ArtisanDesignConcepts
@ArtisanDesignConcepts 5 ай бұрын
Glad you liked the video! You'd roll it the exact same way if it was in place. If it's against a wall just be sure you put some plastic or paper against the wall and tape it securely so you don't get UTC where it doesn't belong and don't contaminate your roller.

gorgeous. Quick question. I know stone coat said they stopped using spray paint mixed in with epoxy, but wondered if you have had any problems with using it mixed. Love your work and thanks for sharing your process, it is great for us starting out. I'm doing strictly wall art but using the same techniques.

Thank you! We appreciate you watching! I really don’t use it to tint my epoxy. I just spray it between layers for effects. Takes too much spray paint to tint a big bucket of epoxy and it thins it out too much.

I think stone coach stopped endorsing spray paint in their epoxy, because they wanted to sell more of their own dyes

Do you sand it with 1000 grit sandpaper after the UTC?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts
@ArtisanDesignConcepts 5 ай бұрын
No I’m not a fan of sanding UTC. It leaves a weird texture. Instead I use a Stanley Scraper blade to lightly scrape off any dust that leaves behind a texture.

What was clear coat priorUTC? Sanding after piece why?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts
@ArtisanDesignConcepts 3 ай бұрын
I used Art Coat from Stonecoat Countertops as my clear coat and I always lightly sand between layers in order to sand out any dust and to create a mechanical bond between layers.
@loriezweifel3364

Is the clear flood coat necessary?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts
@ArtisanDesignConcepts 5 ай бұрын
A clear coat is always recommended. It helps to lock in the additives that you've mixed into the epoxy, adds an extra layer of protection as well as dimension. It also helps level everything out after the color coat if there are any low spots or if you had to sand out any dust or hairs.

Did you say how many oz you mix per sq foot?
@ArtisanDesignConcepts
@ArtisanDesignConcepts 5 ай бұрын
For the background I use 3oz/sq ft and for the exotic pour portion I used 5oz/sq ft. On a normal exotic pour I would do 8oz/sq ft total and use only 1oz/sq ft of that for a skim coat to help the epoxy move. On this design I want the background to show through a little more so I change the ratios up a bit but still ends up at 8oz/sq ft.
