TY for this.. my favs r nickel azo yellow for its bursts, and the original quin gold. Some days I spend hours on just mixing colors..some look bad, and some I love.. but I find just messing around by mixing on paper is a true joy to watch, and sometimes ends up as the start of a painting for me.

You’re making me miss Quinacridone Gold very much with this video! So many yellows in one pigment. Apart from that, this was a great video for making you think about the page, and what your artistic intent is, rather than concentrating on the rainbow of palette colours like its a pick’n’mix of sweets! Thankyou.

Information from all your creativity is so valuable and appreciated. Angela the ways you broke down this lesson was so effortless to learn and understand, your a great instructor. Thank you very much! I would love to see a comparison lesson with each primary color. I cannot believe how much this has made a difference in how I've looked at yellows I've been using. Awsome direction to experiment with them. Would love to see how you look at blue and red.

Thanks Angela. I especially liked your recommendation about not going crazy with the yellows in the lightest areas. I've heard the phrase "Let the paper breathe." Thanks also for the brown mixing demonstration, might even try it for flesh tones which shouldn't be granulating. Yellow is a tough color, thanks for all the advice.

I love quin gold with phlalogreen and a touch of azo yellow. It's DS SAP green and the base for the hookers green. I love the amazonite green!!! Oh my and it mixes clean! And my new non flat black that I love is the tourmaline genuine. I love it more than ANY ivory or neutral for that non flat jet black. Wow! I even mixed a rose ultramarine to it lightly MG. My fav yellows- nickel azo, azo, yellow ochre DS, raw sienna, medium cad, new gamboge, quin gold and naples. Wow 8. Thanks Angela nice tutorial!

Very helpful information, Angela! I watched the bonus video also - love the colors! I also want to say that I am learning many awesome techniques through #sketchbookrevival . I love every minute of this learning experience! All the artists are great and so kind, taking the time to explain things so thoroughly. Now, I can draw and paint an awesome face with a water soluble charcoal, add paper scraps and watercolor. I can also draw a cute "dancing dog," a bird or focus on the details of a small object! I can also create fantasy animals from cracks in the sidewalk or fill a page with whimsical houses, and more! It's all so inspiring and fun, from my face to my thumb! By the way, I enjoyed your video, as well!

Excellent to the point explanation & demonstration, hard to see true color on screen so nice to have your verbal assessment which from your point of view "live" may seem redundant to verbalizing it. Excellent. I have one question regarding doing black & white to determine value. I don't have a printer or any photo editing tools other than my ipad camera, would you know if I edit my photo turn to black & white will it give same kind of results that you demonstrated in this video & your red video?

I have been playing alot with color mixing as an exercise but I dont think I can remember which combinations looked great. Do you suggest writing it down like in a log when you mix colors that you like so that you can learn and remember?

I read somewhere that Aureolin was not lightfast? Will it fade or discolor over time?

I've been searching and can't seem to find my perfect and favorite yellow. I want a creamy buttery soft yellow. No matter how much I water it down I have not been able to achieve that effect. It always takes on a different tone.

@@StorytellingHeadshots thank you. I love Naples yellow it's my favorite.. but it seems to ochre look a bit as I layer it if that's the right term? It's not transparent but maybe a light one will work better!

I hope you are not using the real Aureolin, PY40. Aureolin, (cobalt yellow) PY40, is not lightfast. It fades to a dirty greyed brown after only a couple months of light exposure.
