While these tricks are useful, I can make this a lot easier for a lot of people. A very easy way is to change the tempo of a track during a build up. Since it pretty much sounds like the tempo is going up anyway it won't sound too weird if you're changing the tempo during it. Maybe an even easier way: there are a LOT of transition tracks available that go from one tempo to another seamlessly (most record pools have tons of them). If you can't find one you like, you can make one pretty easily yourself in a DAW, it's especially easy if you have two different remixes at two different tempos of the same song.

You can use these same techniques in that setting but with more radio format music it is trickier since you don't have intros or outros to work with. You can just fade between in that case.

Cutting/scratching a track in is highly effective if executed properly when mixing different tempos. Also matching the harmonics, as well as energy, makes a big difference. Either way you'll need to do some serious pre-planning to pull this off seamlessly and successfully in a live setting

Hi There, I usually DJ with Traktor nowadays and a Roland drum percussion pad with sticks, and use the loop points in traktor to navigate through tracks while DJing at gigs. I export all the song, cue, loop and key data from traktor to Rekordbox via rekordbuddy software. Then I export playlists to a USB to dj at festivals or gigs that only have pioneer gear available. My problem is with cue and loop points. In traktor i have 8. In rekordbox i have 8. On CDJ2000NXS2 I can recall 8 hotcues, and 8 memory cues. All of this is fine…. BUT some gigs I turn up to have CDJ2000 to CDJ2000NXS (not CDJ2000NXS2) which only have 3 hotcues (& 8 memory cues) on them available. My question is: is there a shift or alt type button or sequence of pressing any button to scroll through the hot cues? EG I have access to ABC hot cues but not D to H hotcues. Is there a way I can access the other 5 hotcues during a songs playback…?EG have access to DEFGH...? Because often when I’m DJing I like to jump from hot cue loop to hot cue loop and skip parts of the track and then when I get to the last hot cue loop callout I leave it looping and mix into the other Cdj looping hot cue or memory cue 1 intro. But I can’t seem to have any access to the other 5 hotcues at gigs with CDJ2000/NXS :( Is there any solution? Joey :)

Am i the only one that uses the crossfader to mix? Why you use the vol faders? Is that the right way to mix And why?
@kalandemumba4970
@kalandemumba4970 4 жыл бұрын
I use both the crossfaders and the volume faders. They essentially do the same thing and on some forums I've seen some people call the volume faders upfaders instead. Since you're moving "across" with the crossfader and up and down with the "upfader"
@knightriderexplorer335
@knightriderexplorer335 4 жыл бұрын
Kalande Mumba i used to get Mixed up and forget the up fader down so there be no sound when i mix So i decided to use the cross fader instead to stop forgetting
@YoungRastafariGaming
@YoungRastafariGaming 4 жыл бұрын
Like Kalande said they essentially do the same thing, you just have a lot more control over volumes and EQ by using volume faders, I started by mixing on crossfader when I was new to it then moved to volume faders (or used both), then ended up just turning my crossfader off altogether cause I don't scratch & hate accidentally knocking it mid mix. I find using volme faders a lot better as you get more control of the volumes of tracks for example if one track is much quieter than the other track due to mastering, track file type or EQ levels of the tracks & they don't mix/blend right because of that, the volume faders can give that extra kick you need that the crossfader can't (or if you do wanna use crossfader still you can combine it with the volume faders). Whatever works best for you I suppose but definitely get used to volume fader mixing & remembering to kill one volume fader and not leave it in incase you ever get on a set up where the crossfader does not work

4:35 sounded like shoes in a tumble dryer. With all the digital laziness these days, it's not mixing, it's programming. I could move with the times and appreciate some of what's going on these days, but I don't want to. I'm a vinyl junkie, beat matching whore and I have been mixing with vinyl ever since I started 23 years ago, only incorporating CDs for new tunage, as new tracks on 12" are like rocking horse shit. But that's just my opinion... Every one has their own. 👍🏻
