gotta start with a really good performance. This snare will always sound a little flat because its not being hit hard enough and theres no rimshot.

Won't that fast attack time with 1167 compressor destroy the transients of the snare drum?

for me it seems like his very fast release (50ms - means 7) created that harsh and more "transient" sound because of distortion created by compressor with fast release. IMO his settings with fastest attack possible 50 micro (not milliseconds) literally doesnt allow to cut through any transients.

How to get vocals to be clear in mastering and not get overwhelmed by synth/bass?

In mastering that might be hard but usually boost around 3-5k on the vocal to bring it forward. Distortion might help cut through a bit more.

Why don't you guys talk about real music like a live gospel mix from start to finish, that's the hardest thing to mix not Pop And EDM.....😑
