How would you do mould when there is weight on foot if you can't touch bottom as foot changes shape under load

Gary, you would need to suspend the foot in the box while the material cures an ensure you do not touch the bottom.

@@smoothon Thats the problem the foot changes shape when weight is applied so if you were to use that method to create a last then it would not fit properly

We would need to stand up in a normal standing position with weight evenly distributed on both feet.

@@gges1605sorry for necroposting, but you could try pressing weight on the foot and placing a flat piece of material on the bottom of the finished mold (your foot will necessarily be flat on the bottom if you're standing on it) and gluing this material to the bottom. I'd try using a sheet of styrene plastic

How much shrink is present?

It depends on the thickness of the mold, but casting into the mold as soon as the foot is demolded is key to minimizing the shrink.

You can use Body Double silicone to create a reusable lifecast mold.

Re-using alginate is pointless, since it dries out and becomes rock hard.
