What's the thinking around not providing pre-punched holes in the bags for the frame sheets? I can understand some trepidation around punching holes into a very expensive set of bags, and alleviating that would be a nice touch.

Our bags are compatible with a lot of different setups, many of which don't require GL Pannier Mounts specifically. This allows people the freedom to customize and use the bags as they see fit.

Yes, we will move toward that . . . Why haven't we already? The honest answer: USA manufacturing makes some nice, sensible design features like that cost too much to produce.

Would be nice to distribute the grey ones especially in hot countries like Australia. We hesitate to put black things into the sun here, you wont be able to touch them and they cook everything inside, more then other colors

@@GiantLoopMoto thanks, I know, shipping costs $266! Black is an ok color everywhere, but in the hot and humid Australia we don’t use that color in the sun. You would burn your Fingers . I am just asking your support for a discount

Hey I have an idea. As those GL plates have already the drill holes for the Rotopax holder, why not fitting that bracket to the inside towards the wheel while the bag is sitting towards the outside. I mean we can install a Rotopax tank on the backside of the RTW bag, maybe with a distance plate to overcome the pannier bracket thickness. On one side is the muffler, on the other waisted space which Honda uses 100% for its AT pannier, just the soft panniers can’t use the space. But a tank fits

I am switching from an older mount I had to the GL mounts. Love the quick release idea. Sadly I had to make a couple more holes, and there is now two holes that will be unused, thus a leak point. Any suggestions on a sealant or epoxy to fill them with? Thx.

I've had luck with Gorilla Tape (sticky side in) and Tenacious Tape personally but if you want to go with a more permanent fix we sell a repair kit: www.giantloopmoto.com/product/gear-repair-kit/

Hello, what if I don't have a rectangular rack like the new Honda Transalp will have. Is it possible to install the RTW panniers? So what do you think can I use RTW with GL mount on the new Transalp? Thanks

I haven't seen any photos of the racks on the new Transalp but for non rectangular racks we typically recommend the Siskiyou Panniers.

But then the bags ain't waterproof anymore. They ain't big holes but you get water inside that ain't comes out. You have to dry the inside every time.

That's why we include interior dry pods with every set. The RTWs aren't 100% waterproof without them, anyway. This mounting setup is not required, but it's the easiest, most secure, and most convenient, which is why we recommend it. I've been running this setup for years and have had zero issues with water.

The bolts, washers and multiple layers of sandwiched fabric seal up the holes. I've never seen water enter via the mounting holes. Mostly people get water inside the outer shells because they leave bikes parked overnight in heavy rains and/or the bike gets submerged in a river crossing.
