How can I time my split step better? I know I should land about.2 seconds after the opponent hits, but at times it can be difficult to predict when exactly they hit

This cant be thought. It must be felt. It is just the most natural and efficient way to move. How to teach this? Just play tennis intensively and it will come to you. Thinking about it wont help.

Oh goodness…. I hope you’re not a coach. I’ve taught these moves to 10 year olds and with a little time they use them in matches. The idea that this can’t be taught is the opposite of true.

@@2MinuteTennis Well, I would like to see those kids footwork to believe it. Novak has ellite footwork, that is not something which can be mastered easily. I am not the coach, but I am passionate tennis player.

it seems like if you are focused on rotating your upper body then the lower should follow suit

I screen record the point I want to analyze from KZfaq. Then, screen record my lesson on it. So it loses quality. No issue though, players still learn the same amount compared to if it was 4K.
