Thank you for this video, I found it really really useful 😊 One option that is not covered here is the option to work in private international schools depending on your location. This usually requires the British teaching qualifications in whichever relative field (for me it is as a Primary school teacher) but there is also the option to work in the EAL departments with a TEFL or CELTA. I have worked in international schools for the last five years living in Poland and Russia. The beauty is that all of the paperwork is mostly taken care of by the school and salary has been very good compared to teaching in the UK even with added benefits such as flight allowance etc. It is likely to be less net pay in France as it is a very desirable location and as an EAL teacher it will be significantly lower. It is a very secure route though, if you can get it! My partner, who is French, isn't currently stationed in a city so I am spending my first year doing the mirco-entrepreneur teaching online but when we move to the south east next year I will definitely be applying for the international schools around the Nice and Cannes area.

I have a BA in English Litetature and Educational Linguistics minor. I also have a TEFL cert and. Pg Diploma in TEFL. Wish me luck!

Google says "To teach English in France, you will need a TEFL certificate. A 4-year college degree is typically required as well." How often do people get jobs teaching English without a four year degree? You mentioned there's a shortage of English teachers in France. Does that mean some people are flexible when it comes to the degree aspect? I'm from New Zealand and I want to live in France. But I don't want to spend 4 years learning about something I don't really care about just so I can get a job teaching English in France. Also, thank you for your video.

Hi there, Well, it depends what you compare it to. Cost of life and salary level perspective is very subjective and will depend on where you live in France and your spending pattern. It is about the French median salary on an hourly basis.
