How to Move to Germany (4 Possible Ways for Non-EU Citizens): visa, residence permit and immigration to Germany
Subscribe to plan your move abroad: / @traveleconomics
Check our other videos: / @traveleconomics
-Germany is one of the most desirable places in the world
-High quality of life, good health care, low unemployment rate and strong economy
-Easy to Immigrate for EU citizens, but hard for non-EU citizens
-How can non-EU citizens move to Germany?
01:04 EU citizens
-If you are an EU citizen you have free access to the German job market and business structure with the same rights as German nationals
-You can just come and sort your stay in Germany
01:47 Non-EU Citizens
-There are many ways non-EU citizens can move to Germany
-You can come as a student, if you find a job, if your spouse in German.
-In this video we are going to cover 3 ways in which you can move to Germany as an non-EU citizen.
-Even if you are a non-EU citizen your options will depend on your country of citizenship
02:31 1st option:
If you are citizen of US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and a few other countries
-If you are a citizen of one of these countries, getting a job and a residence permit will be much easier.
-You can effectively come to Germany first without a visa, and look for a job. If you find a job in Germany you will take the job contract and other requirements, and apply for a residence permit.
-You do not need to go back to your country of origin to apply for a visa in this case.
03:20 2nd option
EU Blue Card
The second option is the EU Blue Card
-The EU Blue Card is given to people which are highly skilled and have a high paying job offer.
-The most important requirement is that the salary you are offered is above a certain threshold.
-In 2021 the minimum annual gross salary should be of 57k EUR. If the job is in a high demand sector, you will be eligible with a salary of at least 45k EUR. Among the high demand sectors are: Mathematics, IT, Engineering, Medicine
-Either German degree of foreign recognized degree
-You can apply for permanent residency in Germany after living 3 years on an EU blue card, even 2 years if you meet some requirements like passing a German language test.
04:31 3 Option Becoming a student
-An option if you don’t speak German, and you aren’t high skilled or does not qualify for becoming a freelancer
-You can come to Germany to study German. If the German course has the minimum number of hours per week, you qualify for a residence permit
-After learning German and getting used to the German lifestyle, you can study a degree.
-Education in Germany is very affordable, and overall costs are incomparably cheaper than in the US, Canada or Australia
-You can work part time while studying in German
-If you are from the US, Canada, UK and a few other countries which are visa exempt to enter Germany you don’t need to apply for a visa beforehand, you can come to Germany, sign up for a German course and then apply for a residence permit.
06:05 4 Becoming a Self-employed
-You can become a self-employed person in Germany if you are a non-EU citizen
-There are two categories of self-employed persons: freelancers and entrepreneurs.
-The activities you will want to perform will determine whether you fall into the category of freelancer or self-employed person.
-Requirements are harder, you can’t just become a freelancer in any profession or with any qualification.
-You will need to show evidence that your profession and / or business idea is viable and is of economic interest in the region/area you want to apply for this type of residence permit.
08:01 Advantages
-Health Care
-Safety
-Transport
09:30 Disadvantages
-Cost of living
-Taxes

I have wanted to move two Germany for a long time. I contacted the consulate about 20 years ago asking about getting citizenship through ancestry. I feel this is rather unfair, as my dad was German but left after WWII. When he moved to Canada he was forced to renounce his citizenship, since I guess, people weren't to keen on having Germans from Germany in their country. The rules for citizenship through relatives only works if the relative is a current citizen. My dad is now dead. We also asked if he could get some compensation from the war, but he never pursued this. He was one of the young kids who had to walk ahead of the tanks looking for landmines. Needless to say, he had a lot of post war drama that never left him. Despite all that, I would love to move to German - it is a very beautiful country. So, do you know if any rules have changed the relate to my situation? I'm now nearly 60 and just place to retire.

The important thing here is to determine what was his citizenship at the time of your birth. Did he lose it before or after you were born?

If you wish to avoid some of the taxes maybe it would be possible to rotate every 3 months between Schwegen and non EU European countries or something like that? :)
@traveleconomics
@traveleconomics 2 жыл бұрын
That doesn't really matter. Staying in a country for 3 months in a year usually does not trigger tax residency. What you have to do is establish yourself somewhere with low taxes, which will be your tax residency. Then you can travel to wherever you want. Most countries trigger tax residency when you spend more than 183 days per year on them (there are exceptions and many details, but that is the general rules)

Usually having uncles living in one country does not help directly anyone to immigrate in legal terms. But if you find a reason to immigrate they could indirectly help you by providing support like housing and explaining how things work.

Hi I'm Godwin from Ghana, please I went for a Schengen visa interview and I was asked: 1 Are you traveling with someone? I said no 2 Purpose of travelling to Germany. I'm attending a trade congress 4 what is the congress about? I answered Then she asked about my budget for purchasing some of the products... I answered, No as it was stated in my application but she was going back and forth with me, I stood by my words and she later said something that I couldn't get so I asked her to COME AGAIN and she said IS FINE without saying anything again, she scanned my Documents and gave my receipt to me Please is that a RED FLAG?

It is hard for me to assess your individual situation. All I can say is that there is a huge demand for health care workers (especially nurses) in Germany and in Europe as a whole.

Before Brexit my wife and I were considering moving to Germany when we retire. It seems at first glance this may no longer be possible. Do you know if there is any potential for a Visa to cover this? I have done my research and it seems like that door is closed at present.

You are right. There are no visa for retirees in Germany at the moment. There are other options though for UK citizens: retire in France close to the German border. Retire in Switzerland. Retire in Sudtirol (Italy) where German is spoken. Contact me if you want to discuss some ideas.

1. How are the German tax residents and citizens taxed on their non-German income sources (Does Hungary tax your worldwide income)? Does Germany have wealth tax? 2. Does Germany have a retiree residency visa program (for US citizens) for retirees tat do not need to work in Germany? 3. What is the best long-term visa type for US retirees who do not want to become a German tax resident? Thank you,

Hey! I’m half German and half American, my mother is still a German citizen but hasn’t visited Germany in over 20 years. She has her American green card. We also have multiple living relatives we are in contact with daily. Ideally I would want dual citizenship since I have American blood relatives as well. Does my situation change anything from what you mentioned in this video? the qualifications I found on the government website are very confusing to understand. A video about similar situations to mine would be very appreciated, thank you!

My Gf lives in Berlin, and I've been there to visit her a couple times, as well as her coming over to visit me I want to move to Berlin and I'd be living with her in her apartment. We have a document stating we're a couple that allows me to stay there for 90 days. Would it be reasonable to just fly over there, become a student at a German language school, and then get a student Visa? I also plan on taking my cat with me since we'd both be really upset if I didn't because we both love him, but what kind of paperwork would I need to bring a cat on a plane to Germany? Would it even be worth it or would the ride stress him out too much. I saw someone on my plane bring three cats with her so I assume it's safe.

Hi there! Thanks for a such an informative video. My partner and I have always dreamt of moving to Germany and now were prioritizing it.
