I remember reading about the Icelandic language and how it has survived centuries with little changes in linguistics which is so freaking rad. A modern Icelandic person can understand texts written by the Vikings (could be wrong because I read it 3-4 years ago). Its nice to hear that Icelandic people are learning English but I really hope that they don't give up their language.

I visited Iceland for the first time last year and I truly believe it’s the most beautiful place on earth. It’s so serene and calm, it almost feels like a place that only exists in movies. I would love to live a rather quiet and peaceful life over there but the job situation is a bit hard, like you said. Finding a job that isn’t online or tourism is pretty difficult, I guess. But at least I can come visit every once in a while and indulge in the quiet life for a while!

Thank you for being considerate and appreciative of the culture of the country you moved into. So refreshing! A see a lot of people moving to countries with even slightly different cultures and then spend a lot of time complaining about how that country's culture is different from theirs and that they don't fit in. Mate, you moved to that country, you need to adapt. Your new country doesn't owe you to change for you. Also, as you said, why not spend some time trying to learn about the culture, maybe you'll actually learn to enjoy the culture!

I always thought Iceland was amazingly beautiful. And I love how Icelandic sounds and would love to learn it, as well as Finnish and yes....Russian. And while the only way I could be considered to move there would be as an English teacher, I wouldn't want to. My specialty in teaching was World Geography, which in many countries seems to be a forgotten subject, or taught completely inadequately. So I would want to go somewhere and help be part of that particular educational team.

I wish to move to Iceland so deeply. But it seems so difficult I almost want to give up. It seems the only way I can get in is through enrolling in university full time, but the amount I have to save up to prove I can support myself seems nearly impossible with also having to pay rent and other utilities on the side. And once I got there I could only work part time, which would that even be enough to support myself? Ah, I just want to leave so badly 😭

There's scholarships and financial aid that cover travel abroad expenses. And, tuition reimbursement helps a lotttt. Mine was 2,231.00 on June 28 and Sept 1, I get 1027$ in tuition reimbursement. The reimbursement can be used for anything. From living expenses to book costs, to travel abroad. You may also so federal work study or apply for student loans. You should really look into this if you attend school in the United States.
