Hi, best wishes to you, you’ll need determination for a start. First question, what passports do you all have?

@@johnsobolewski2009 okay, you’re wife’s prospective employer is responsible for applying for her work permit. There are some hoops to jump through, including advertising the job to EU residents first. (There’s a workaround which involves living here first on the non lucrative visa, but put that aside for the moment). I believe once she’s sorted out, you also have the right to work as family member. Check out this website immigration-portal.ec.europa.eu/spain-family-member_en#:~:text=Access%20to%20employment,applying%20for%20a%20work%20permit.

Hi Skatz, so, we currently live and work in Germany. I can apply for permanent residency in 3 years or wait 4 years for German Citizenship (dual) which seems a lifetime away as we want to move to Spain and work. How easy is the process of obtaining a Spanish work permit when if I have permanent residency in Germany. Trying to weigh up if we should just wait to get citizenship or try earlier via the permanent residency/work permit route.

Hi Sarah, bearing in mind that there’s a difference between permanent residency (which doesn’t give you the right to work in other EU countries) and long term residency (which does give you the right but it’s a longer and more complicated process and not guaranteed), and it also takes time to get citizenship (in Spain it can take 1-2 years), so it may take you longer than you think anyway. Either way, you need one of the two to have a chance of employment in Spain. Your prospective employer has to apply for the permit once they offer you the job.

@@youtoospain so basically the same process as if I were to apply from the uk for a work permit/visa?
@youtoospain

@@sarahboult4867 more or less yes. It’s your passport rather than where you live that defines your rights.

Hi mate, are people still being rejected for 'No Live Trace' Police certificates or is it really considered as a clean record now as some websites state. So many conflicting statements online, I dont know what to believe!
@youtoospain
@youtoospain 2 ай бұрын
Good question. You’re always going to find exceptions to the rule on this on social media because more people write about negatives than positives and individuals’ circumstances and officials interpretations of the rule can vary. If you’ve got no record showing, it should mean there’s nothing serious enough to warrant a rejection, and records that have been removed because they’re over 5 years old and not of a violent nature shouldn’t matter. But add a No Live Trace to a borderline financial status and an official with a stack of applications that look more promising and you could end up with a rejection.

@youtoospain OK, financial status isn't a requirement as I'm going to be applying for the familiar arraigo visa. I'm married to a Spanish citizen and we got married in Spain, although I didn't actually live there at the time. We have just had our first child 8 weeks ago and we want to move to Spain. The Acro will show 'No Live Trace' from a referral order I received as a 16 year old, 18 years ago. Do I risk getting it rejected and then appealing through a lawyer? Or is there something I can do on the initial application? Thanks.

@@DavidStanley-dg8tr that doesn’t sound like you’ll have any problems at all if it’s that old and you weren’t locked up. I’d just do your application
