HOW TO NATURAL DYE WITH TURMERIC AT HOME | BOTANICAL COLOUR | SHADES OF YELLOW
How do you dye fabric with vegetable?
How do you natural dye?
Which plants and vegetables make the best dye?
How do you dye fabric naturally?
Permission to get messy and stained yellow with turmeric. An introduction to natural dyes with a powerful and intoxicating natural dye that is one of the most easy and fun to use. Enjoy creating pure sunshine.
BillyNou is about the wonderful process of natural dyeing I do for my brand, life, motherhood and the trails and errors of making and crafting.

I’d like to inspire others to become more conscientious, to find a connection with nature and benefit from this immense and totally accessible energy.

Does the color stay after washes? And if washed with other colors will it stain them?

@@yanethacosta2820 hey I tumeric isn’t know for it’s colourfastness but you can pre treat it with soy milk or mordant it to help the colours last as long as possible 😊

The way it's filmed is just absolutely beautiful, it is the perfect mix between a home movie and a professional film. It looks so beautiful and personal, I never knew I needed these type of videos, most KZfaq videos have artificial cold lights which makes it look less personal and homey. I'm absolutely in love with the way it's filmed and edited. Honestly it's so beautiful, you don't only see you and your kid but I feel like I can almost see your husband. You can see everything trough his eyes and the details he pays attention to. I was thinking of starting a KZfaq again for a while and you are now a really big inspiration. I don't have anyone who can film for me, but I'm thinking of letting people see me and my personality trough my eyes/ the camera instead of being Infront of it. Because it almost felt like I got to know your husband maybe better than I got to know you, even if he didn't say anything or I didn't see him. I'm sorry for this long comment, but I got emotional even if this video isn't supposed to be emotional. It's so subtle but effective.

I have been spending more time focusing on sustainable clothing/bedding/bath materials and your channel has really inspired me to have some fun with dying naturally at home. Would you be able to share some tips and tricks on sourcing natural material for dying? I have found bedding to be the most challenging.
@billynou
@billynou 4 жыл бұрын
Hhhm yes bedding does tend to be challenging because of it’s size... there are some really good ethical online stores to source some fabric... not sure of bedding but also scouring vintage stores is a great way to find fibers... if a little time consuming. Thank you for watching !!

Can you also use vinegar to mordant fabric (3 parts water to1 part vinegar) instead? Do you know if one is more effective than the other? I tried red cabbage and it was stunning but I didn't mordant the fabric. When I washed it (not a pH soap... I'm still learning!), It turned light blue! Still beautiful but different than I thought. Thanks for your videos! Love love love!

I love this! I just did my first natural dye project 2 days ago. I used cochineal, lockwood, wildflowers, miscellaneous petals and leaves, onion skins, and some lilac and begonia from my garden. It was such a fun process I'm slowly learning more about - I'd love to try turmeric :)) loving the scrunchies you've made! I used to work for a company that sells bamboo apparel/bedding, never thought about using it for natural dyes! Are you using 100% bamboo, or a bamboo/poly blend? Not sure if a blend would pick up the dyes as well? Thank you for your videos!
@billynou
@billynou 4 жыл бұрын
Ooo that sounds like a good combo!! It really is so fun, especially when you get a lovely result. Yes I use 100% organic bamboo fiber.... natural dyes do only take to natural fibers but there could be an interesting effect if you used a blend? Enjoy your natural dye journey! 🌹

I would LOVE to see a pair of converse shoes dyed like this! There’s no reason why not ... as long as they’re really clean and mordanted. I’d suggest experimenting a bit first 😊
