A simple way to Kill live Tree stumps quickly I have seen used many times around the world by indigenous peoples..We don't like to use toxic substances which harm both us and the Enviroment..
Method One- Take caution to clear any dry organic materials from at least 2-3 metres around the stump.
Method Two - Best if you have a nearby fence or plants you want to keep..
We are MASSIVELY grateful that you choose to watch our Videos and support us in this way already, however, If you appreciate and get value from what we share and would like to help us a little more, you can become a Freedom Forest Patreon (link below).

I hope you don’t mind me adding in a warning in some cases cause I 100% did this to myself before I seen this video so no fault of yours but I did this method to 2 of my trees and it’s a great idea and after my desired burn I completely soaked it with water when done and roughly 1 week later I notice smoke coming from the ground about 6 feet away from the stump, it had smouldered unnoticed for that long following the roots which I hadn’t even thought of. I just had to mention what I did so people can keep a watch out granted I live in rural Australia.

Thank you it was helpful. I had a neighbors tree right up against my property line and it had a tree fork about 1o feet up with each being of equal size. The first part of the fork came down due to high winds and landed in my yard completely blocking my back door. I called the neighbor and someone came out and cleared up the mess but left the tree standing. The owner, when confronted, told me if I wanted the tree taken down I could pay for it myself. I told him we would end up in Court if the rest of that tree came down on my house. The following spring brought heavy wind and rain and the second fork fell and took 50 feet of my fence down. That section of fence I had not replaced because I figured the direction of that the fork would fall would take out my fence and perhaps hit the side of the house but I got lucky as it only hit the fence and the rest landed in their driveway. However, they left me with an 18" wide stump that I couldn't burn because the city I live in won't allow it. I used my Milwaukee Magnum drill and a mix of large diameter and long drill bits that I had been given by my Father and drilled holes into the stump and kept putting compost enhancer into the holes. It never occurred to me to cover it because it was in an awkward spot. They just left me another stump on my property line and this one I'll do the same but cover it with black plastic so that it rots even faster. Thanks for the tip.

We are lucky that we have soft wet ground so we can dig the soil out and expose the roots quite easily. We chain saw the roots all round to release them and dig them and the stump out bit by bit. Sometimes the root is dead and will come out easily in one piece. We have an epic root pile now which makes great bonfire wood in funky shapes. No chance of us getting a digger in so we see it as a workout and do what we call 'root fit' - like cross fit only not.

Cut the tree as close to the ground as possible. Use the biggest spade drill bit your drill can accommodate. Use a corded drill if possible. Then drill as many holes into the stump as possible around 2 to 3 inches apart. Drill as deep as possible into the stump but anywhere from 6 to 8 inches should be fine. Once the holes are cleaned out fill the holes with cheap table salt. Leave the stump for 2 weeks and fill the holes again with salt if necessary. The table salt will leech the moisture out of the tree stump and kill the tree stump in the process. Usually, salting the stump once is typically enough.

It’s a passive method and typically I’ll hit a area 2-4 times over a few days. Hot sand in a metal bucket worked nicely too.(everything is dangerous please be careful when using heat. If you need to burn close to something you don't want to damage or kill. I have a small 5 gallon metal burn barrel. Keeps heat off trees next to it. push the tree over to avoid having a stump in the first place. this is done during the wettest month when the soil gives least resistance. dig a donut trench around the tree, cutting and clearing sections of root as you go. a knee deep trench should suffice even on big trees. either let the wind take it or use rope and pulleys.

Just cover the stump and leave it for years to decay and build soil. If you want to plant something, just cut through some of the root and plant. The fungi around the root of the old tree will provide nourishment to the new plant. Nothing exists in a vacuum ....make use of all growth and connections because they all are important and useful if we aren't so arrogant to think we know everything. Fungi and roots talk and work together. Disturb only what you must!

The average homeowner trying to get a stump out of his yard does not have a chainsaw or a leaf blower
@kristencarroll1651

If you don’t have a chainsaw, it’s practically impossible to remove a large stump. Hire someone, rent one, or buy one. This is like saying “I want to tile my house, but don’t own a tile saw.”

You should mention the caveat that this should be done in a rural area. This isn't an appropriate method for urban areas.

Are you kidding? Feck that. I'm not setting fire to tree stumps in my garden knowing they can spread to the roots and possibly travel under my house.

This is a stupid advice. You can cause root fire that can travel many meters away, it happened to me. If you are unlucky it will set your house on fire. I strongly disagree with this.

Unfortunately, that does not kill the roots. Forget all of that work. drill a 2" hole in the stump top. Pour in 4oz of 41% Round-up. Kills the stump and the roots. Easy peasey.

Friends, the world is facing the problem of Global warming. Hence please don't destroy or kill the trees and green plants.. I appeal to all of you, to go for planting the new trees instead of cutting the existing trees...

Method 1 sounds reasonable. There is one problem: in some American municipalities open fife is prohibited. Even not to use charcoal barbeques. This is not a joke - friend of mine, living few houses away, was fined for using such. Stupid? Indeed. Another way of doing: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLVdi6adsd7cZKc.html
