Otaku Crafter Hah! I always find myself watching tutorials on things I'd never really need, but sometimes that kind of stuff is good to watch because you might learn something new that you could use in other craft projects :D

My kitten's fave toy from a pack was a yellow felt ball, so this is a godsend! She hides her ball in her carrier when she's done playing with it (and carries it in her mouth everywhere she goes) & I'm worried she's gonna actually lose it 🥵 so now I can make lots 🙃

Just make sure you get wool that was dyed and washed safely, it is good to ask the company who sells the wool what are the dyes, washing additives, and if it is safe for baby toys, you can also use natural non dyed wool, just make sure it wasn’t washed with toxic stuff!

Your voice is so soothing and your videos are very easy to follow and you tell us your mistakes and the do's and don'ts for each project and I just love it. My family says I am a crazy cat lady (crazy? maybe cat? love lady? not even a chance) I am very interested in trying this, however, was wondering how long it really takes from start to finish. I give up sometimes, but if it is as easy as you make it seem, I am willing to try. I am binge watching your videos today. Going to have a craft haul later, ha ha.

Can a cat or dog take apart the toy? Has this ever happened to anyone? Would you recommend this type of toy for a puppy?

I think if your cat or dog likes to shred toys, I'd say this is probably not the toy for them. Or if you really wanted to make one, just be sure you're supervising them while they play. My cats don't rip toys up too much, so I wasn't concerned about it, but my dog is a destroyer of any kind of soft toy so I supervise playtime with these toys anyway, and they get put away when I'm not around to make sure my dog won't eat them. In my, admittedly limited, knowledge of puppies, I wouldn't make this kind of toy for one. Depending on their age they're going to go through a few phases where they like to chew up anything(a "puppy teething" phase and also an "a-hole teenage dog trying to figure out their boundaries" phase), so these toys probably wouldn't be safe.

I make felt balls for my cats and one of my cats shreds the ball. I'm always repairing them.

I was also told that felting needles break easily. Is this true?

Shayne Manosca I don't know if I would say easily. I have broken a few though. But mostly because my attention was elsewhere and I stabbed the needle down at an angle so it bent all funny while it went through the wool, causing it to snap. If you have hard things within the wool, like the jingly bells in this video, you have to take extra care not to stab wildly at it because it can catch on the hard thing and break that way too. Also if you felt the wool so much that it's super dense it becomes easier to break the needle, just because you're then forcing the needle down harder to penetrate the wool. Thankfully they're pretty inexpensive :)

+unicornbree I think part of buying or making toys for your pets is knowing how your pet plays. I know my cat wouldn't rip it up like crazy, so I'm ok with letting him play with these. I do monitor him when he plays with them though, because I have to put them away or else my dog, Hobbes the Destroyer, will come and shred them, haha.
