CODE RED - Meet Obama’s Trauma Team. So ran the cover of Times Magazine featuring Mickey Dickerson and his team who rescued a failing website that stood to jeopardize President Obama’s flagship policy initiative. In 2013, Mikey got a call from Obama to form the “ad hoc” team tasked with rescuing HealthCare.gov after its disastrous launch on October 1. In August 2014, Obama then established the U.S. Digital Service and appointed Mikey as Administrator to see if the strategy that successfully pulled Healthcare.gov out of the fire could be applied to other government problems.
Crisis engineering is the art of restructuring core technical systems and organizational functions during times of peak urgency. When time and public trust are limited, Mikey has become the go-to complex systems crisis reengineer, helping many organizations make big changes that are simultaneously necessary and extremely risky.

On 13 June 2024, the Creative Bureaucracy Festival triumphantly returned for its 7th edition in Berlin! The festival saw over 1,850 international participants from 50 countries from government, politics, civil society, and other change-making organisations gathering to share and celebrate outstanding examples of innovative public administrations.
