How to Oil Change a Harley Davidson Rocker C / Softail + Walk around

Welcome to Home Built Rides,
We're going to show you how to oil change a 2008 Harley Davidson Rocker C Custom/Softail - hopefully you find our videos helpful and entertaining.
Things you're going to need are:
New Oil for your machine (Please check owners manual for specifications)
New Oil Filter - as per manufacturer recommendations
Oil Filter Wrench
Oil funnel
Oil Drain pan
Ratchet/Wrench
16mm Socket for oil drain plug
Rag for drips and spills

I have a 2008 Rocker and just noticed my oil drain hose leaking last week. It is now May 2022 so that makes it 13--14 years. At the lower hose clamp, where the hose slides onto the drain plug fitting, the clamp weaked the hose & made a split in it . Luckily I noticed it while being parked, and not while riding. Otherwise I'd be riding and more than likely blow the engine up. NOT to mention the oil draining directly in front of the rear tire and causing a catastrophe. So note.....if you own a Rocker, check or replace this hose !! The hose was $9.00

Do you start the bike and get it warmed up before doing this or no?

Did your flush mount fuel gauge come with amber leds that match the speedo? I can't find them anywhere. Only blue and red.

quill6211 - unfortunately we found the same so ended up going with the blue.. and being a blue bike they don’t look out of place thankfully.. hope you can find what you’re looking for 👍🏼

Is that the stock fender chopped or did you put a custom fender on the bike?

why the hell would you use car oil in a big twin?!

Short of buying overpriced Harley brand oil, which is produced by Citgo, the oil we've used here meets or exceeds the specifications for oil given in the harley softail manual supplied with the bike. It was also recommended by the harley technician we spoke to before purchasing, and last I checked Penrite was a fairly respected brand.
