should i oil both the front and back of the bat (and edges and toe)? if yes, how do I store? should i do the front and toe and edges first, wait a day, knock, and then do the back? how many times should I oil the back (i.e. should I oil it 3 times in 3 days?)

What if Your bat alrdy has an anti scruff sheet bfore oiling and stickers covering most of the back part? Oil around them? Will it be considered under-oiling? Video was very useful too

Oil the back of the bat on the natural wood (avoid the stickers). Leave the bat horizontal overnight which will soak into the wood 👍

Don’t have a garage to store the bat in during the winter, would you say that storing the bat in a bat cover in a cupboard away from any radiators or in the car boot would be better? Will the bat become damp in the car boot?
@SeriousCricketTV
@SeriousCricketTV 2 жыл бұрын
Hi James, as long as there is no heating element in the cupboard that would be fine. The best would be the car boot as the natural substance (wood) is then stored in a relatively natural environment that isn't going to be heated. I personally store my bat in my car 👍. Richard.

Great video - but is there any fix for over oiling the bat. I oiled from back side and the back side of my bat looks brownish and it feels damp/softer.. is there any fix ? please suggest. I don't want to loose this bat so any suggestions are much appreciated !

Try and dry the bat in sunlight. You can also use tissue to absorb the extra oil.

you can yes, but do make sure you leave the oil long enough to absorb fully into the wood before you do 🏏

I've oiled my new English willow bat it's called Dukes custom Pro. When I oil lt it gets dry in 2 min but when I oiled my gray Nicholls bat it stayed oiled and liquidish for about an hour. Is that weird or..
@SeriousCricketTV
@SeriousCricketTV 2 жыл бұрын
Not one we have heard before and difficult to comment without seeing the bat. You only really need to apply a few drops of oil (make sure it is raw linseed oil) - which you will then spread over the exposed parts of the wood. Leave it overnight and then have another look. If you feel the bat is still too dry, repeat the process once again (although once should be enough).

Bro my bat is almost about to get knocked and I haven't oiled it so I have purchased a new gm linseed oil which is good enough so how many hours should I keep the bat after oil and should I keep under sunlight or inside the house itself ?
@SeriousCricketTV

Leave the bat overnight once oiled and check back in the morning. Leave it in natural conditions (in the house is fine) 👍

Oiling is always a good process for the bat to protect it and give it more longevity. We would always recommend oiling to prevent any damage. I would recommend contacting the company you bought this from to check and then apply oil if necessary. Hope this helps 🏏

@SeriousCricketTV

This is nothing overly to worry about, although it may suggest that the wood is soft. You could cover this with an anti-scuff sheet but you'll want to let any oil applied properly dry first!

I would rather oil the toe and keep it upside down for a day. Also make sure you use an oil paper to spread or the napkin or cloth will suck up all the drops.
