This video shows how you can open a Juwel lighting fixture made for aquariums without sawing it open and damaging it like many other videos show.

DONT MELT IT, FIRST PULL THE BLACK END CAPS OFF (THEY GLUED ON SLIGHTLY BUT WILL PULL AWAY IT OPENS UP WITH A SHARP KNIFE (no heat) ALONG THE GLUE, also if Your bulbs are not the right way around they may flicker or not come on at all, make sure the red end is lined up with the red dot on the socket, It doesnt tell you anywhere in the instructions, but this is the problem half the time people say its not working.

Ca anyone help, my juwel lido led multilux light is like flickering, what does that mean. It doesn't turn on fully just a low light flash like its trying to turn on but wont fully then it will keep trying

@@Korbert I did. It just means you need a new lightbulb. There are two long bulbs in each unit . The way to find out which one is broken is going to a shop that sells you bulbs. Trying to take one out and put the new one in. One way the lights will not turn on. And the other way when you have took the right light bulb out the unit will.work perfectly again

Stay clear of Juwel especially T5 sealed Units they have a very high failure rating, the Tanks are sub par in quality too, the Tank Bonding sealent came away in all four corners on my 5ft Juwel Rio which created LEAKING, bought new with cabinet. On my third new lighting unit and all failed within 1 day , 4 days and a month. So stripping it out and making it out of better quality parts.

I’m in my third lighting unit. I got 1 yr & 3 months out of my last one. Bought May 2021Just fills up with water inside the ‘sealed’ unit. Could be condensation but it’s a crap design & extremely expensive.

do these fixtures take fluorescent or LED tubes? I bought my tank second hand so not sure if there were any previous models of the multilux

Before getting a new ballast, make sure the bulbs are installed the correct way round, led tubes have a red end that should be inserted towards the cap socket with the tiny red dot, if not they flicker or dont work at all

What a ridiculous and horribly uninformed post. There is a split at the top ... in the groove where the lugs of the lid fit. Run a knife along to break the seal and the top comes off!

Hi, I didn't understand how to open the multilux lid. Could you explain it to me in more detail. (my fault that I do not understand the language well). Thanks in advance.

@@andreag6285 Hi. The top of the unit is glued on. It's just a flat piece of plastic. Using the point of a knife in the groove where the lugs of the lid(s) sits, carefully find the join. Then just work your way along breaking the bond. It's easy ... just take your time.

@@andreag6285 Before you strip it make sure the problem isnt your tubes are the wrong way around, there is a little red dot on the socket which lines up with the red end of the led tube. if wrong way around the lights flicker at a low dim.
