Successful job interview after watching this video for whole day before showing up to the work and driving the excavator for first time. Had a bit of problem which they guessed it but after work, they told me that I never drove excavator before but hell I did a great job on it. So, I get to keep the job. So happy that I get to work on a job career driving around excavator. :D Best summer job ever!

This has to be the most informative video I have found on how to operate an excavator from the very start. I'm going to a vocational school to learn how, but this will definitely give me a head start on how to safely start and run the machine. Thank you so much for posting this it helps a lot!!!! Now I can impress everyone at the school when I go! I'll post videos of my progress if the school will allow me!

Thank you. You should make a video on how to operate a backhoe. Digging using excavator is easier than driving a car actually.

BTW "The Stick" in England we call it the Dipper, just for anyone that needs to know its the second section of the boom which the bucket is attached too

Is it possible to turn the excavator left/right using the tracks or are they rigidly fixed so one can only drive backwards and forwards?

In answer to my question: In order to turn the excavator, one track on one side must be stopped, and the other engaged to turn the excavator in an arc. To turn on the spot, one track must be in forward gear, and the other in reverse, which when engaged spins the machine on it's axis. To do this the excavator requires separate drive systems for each track, making the transmission more complex. Source: hubpages.com.

You can turn left and right it's to do with the tracks they turn solo so you can stop and reverse individually as for sharp turn lift the front or back of the machine with the arm and then turn tracks if you don't know that then you shouldn't be in one if your thinking of become an operator you should first be a banksman for one to learn the basic controls most machine driver give advice some time let you have ago under there supervision depending on the sites they are on

There is no transmission the engine is essentially just a giant hydraulic pump and Both final drive gears have a hydraulic motor powering planetary gears to turn the tracks

Hydraulic hoses fail all the time. Never walk under a bucket and leave the bucket on the ground if not in the cabin.

new machines are simple to use..old one have not computer unit..so there you need some experience to work with

Lol very true that bucket should be resting as for three point not many drivers do that just like they don't check oil daily at most the driver i know only grease once a week or asoon as the arm starts to squeak
