Thank you for the video, my boiler was using £1 to £1.50 a day on standby, I did not understand why until I found this video. The comfort setting was on .british grass fitted it and did not go over the functions 3 years ago :)

I read that if the water is not over a certain temperature there is risk of leggionnaires disease ! “Yjd primary method used to control the risk from Legionella is water temperature control. Water services should be operated at temperatures that prevent Legionella growth: Hot water storage cylinders (calorifiers) should store water at 60°C or higher.”

Scotland, today it's getting cold now, I'm 70 & scared to adjust my boiler settings. Hot water is easy to understand but central htg what is correct temperature. I live in a 2 bedroom bungalow. Also it's summer, htg off, hot taps not running, my boiler fires up for minutes for no reason? Ok, done the tutorial at the boiler & now I know why it fires up as said - COMFORT! its now off. Set hw & will see how that goes & raise or lower. Htg, also now set at 55c & will monitor. Only thing is my rads also have a adjuster for them, not too sure on that, maybe Tango Mark can help there too. I was going to call the council house people but no need now & they wouldn't know as much as Mark. Glad I Googled this, the wonders of the internet. Thanks Mark (can you tidy my house?!).

Great video, but I'm missing the installers menu where in my opinion sits the most important setting: d000 - output power. This is the real money saver. It's default set to the maximum power consumption. I've set to 6kw which still keeps my house warm but only cost me 5,7 m3 gas per hour. Also, like others mention, do not set the hot water below 55 c degrees

THANKYOU , i have a vaillant eco tec pro its quite old maybe 2007 and its a council boiler they are extremely reluctant to advise and each time its checked they turn the radiator and water dials up , i have my rads on around 55 to 60 and water is around 44 so not hot but comfy to wash hands without worrying about being burnt , had this since it was installed , the digital dial doesn't show a c at all so does that mean i don't have pre heat or i don't have an option to turn it off and on . many thanks

One question ,what temperature would you set for UFH ,i have ceramic tiles for best heat conduction ,but set at 43 thermostats never seem to get to temperature .is there a band of acceptable temperature range to set boiler to dependant on outside temperature ?

I was going to clean my filter the one shown in this video I turned the valves off but when I opened the filter cover water kept dripping out I wanted to empty the filter because I was trying to add some inhibitor fernox but when I emptied the filter with a sponge I could hear more water come in does this mean I have faulty valves the ones with black knobs

Great video with clear instructions for the “lay person”. Do you have a similar vid for a Vaillant ecoTec plus 624 linked to a Megaflo hw cylinder and an Honeywell EvoHome controller (with no gateway). I want to reduce my summer time hot water temperature.

There's been a few gas engineers out to fix the gas but they can't seem to find a problem. I've got a flashing water symbol that won't go off so I'm stuck with no heating, only hot water. Sometimes it goes off itself and the gas will work, but when the symbol appears, the gas goes off again. Do you have any idea how to turn this off?

If the water temp is set to 55 (for example) but you want your washing machine to do a wash at 60, will it work, or does the water temp need to be at least the temperature of the water you want the wash at?

My valiant eco tec plus has been off for central heating for the 3 or so months of summer. Hot waters been fine with no pressure loss or faults. I turned the central heating dial last night and it started but the pressure dropped to zero. I hit the flame button while turning the taps on underside and heard a like a loud switch click noise and fired up, closed the taps and pressure dropped again. So I turned the central heating dial off put the pressure back in the system and hot water works and holds pressure but if I turn that heating dial the pressure goes and I get F75. I pushed the pressure vessel valve in and water shot out.

My filling loop has an open exit in between the 2 valves, when I open the valve under the boiler, the water comes out of the exit, and doesn't go into my boiler, I don't understand.

Just followed your instructions Mark is it ok for the boiler to be making clicking noises. I couldn’t get hot water through my shower after it working the 1st couple of uses. It changed temp to scalding temperature so resorted to my good old trusted bath

Best shower too have is a slimline one that connects to your cold water & instantly heats it up in a few seconds. The body of it is in your bathroom, I'm amazed how it heats up so quick & it's not tied into your boiler system when that plays up & you can't then shower. They aren't that expensive for a bog standard one that my Council put in with that boiler too & it's soo cheap to run. Get a trusted fitter to install it.

Hi Mark, can I switch off the boiler when I sleep, and turn it on again before shower to reduce my energy bill? Will I have to reset the whole boiler again whenever I switch it back on or will there be any effects on the boiler? Thank you!

Just in case, just follow Mark, select Comfort off & the hw temp that suits you best. It won't come on at night unless you have htg on & adjust temperature in your living room dial. Just set it low but enough too stop water pipes freezing in a cold spell. Keeping the house so cold if off will use more gas in getting your house warm, in summer turn dial right down, in winter about 15c is best & when home turn it up to 20c, also don't lounge about in T-shirt & pants, dress warmly with a cardigan or even use thermal long John's & put a armless puffer jacket on, you'll feel hot & turn down temperature. I'm 70 & all we had as a child was a coal fire. Rmbr in freezing weather keep some htg on as a burst pipe... hope that helps.

Hello, thank you for the information. I turned off the confort mode as water is cheaper than gas ;) I'm concidering the idea to use an electric boiler of 50 liters, that will be heated with solar energy, that is connected to the cold water inlet of the Vailant ecotec Pro.. Is sthis something that is possibe? So you feed in water at 50°C so the vaillant boiler sences the temperature and just sends it straight to the outlet without extra heating.

Yes, I have seen this as a proper installation. Mains cold into a tank heated by solar panel, then that tank feeds the cold mains into the combi boiler, so the boiler I will not need to fire app if the water is to temperature that the boiler is set to. if the water in the tank is not quite hot enough the combi will heat it to what is needed👍👍. very good idea.👍👍

Amazing video thanks! My boiler has a clock on it and it makes a ticking sound, which is really annoying. We have a thermostat and I was wondering if a qualified person would be able to remove the panel with the clock and replace it with the one in your video ? thanks

they start ticking as they get old. the clock just pull straight out. any programmer can be fitted

Not sure what your asking . You may have hot water preheat on if it's randomly coming on

I've had it with my Vaillant Ecotec boiler that I'm this close🤏 to ripping the effing thing off the wall. My boiler is in summer mode (radiator temp set to 'OFF' and displaying the parasol icon), but I've set my hot water temp to 65 and it's not heating up at all - not unless I take the boiler out of summer mode. However, if I do that, then the radiators turn on which I don't want. The programmer on the wall for the water is on 'Timed' and I've pressed the 'Advanced' button, but the damn boiler just sits there at 35 degrees flashing that parasol icon and not doing anything. Please help 😭

Can anyone help me recently had my boiler serviced a “vaillant eco fit sustain” it’s 2 years old and now the water used to go up to 70c I am sure!! Now it’s been serviced it’s gone down to 60c hot water! That’s not hot enough… what have they done to it please ? And how do I get it higher again when it won’t go past 60c ???

Hi Mark, thanks for this vid! In our ecoTec manual it says to set the hot water to minimum 60 degrees to prevent legionnaire disease - is this something we should be worried about if setting the hot water to 55 degrees?

Over here in the NL 55'C is advised as absolute minimum against Legionella.

In germany this setting is regulated by law for ALL COMMERCIAL used hot water supply. For PRIVATE use they recommend the same temperate but its up to the user to do so. If you got a real good craftsman they can give you some advice (and will explain why) and will turn it down IN PRIVATE business because its not really a problem there and it also causes nothing like that. For example ours (and a lot of other colleagues) is set to 45°C without any issues the past few years. Thats not a recommendation from me to do so -its only for information.
