"extremely strong indeed", as the guy purposefully puts all his weight exactly right where the support strut is .. I'm not saying it's not strong (i have no idea), but i would be much more convinced if the person would walk over it and put weight on various places so we can see how the case responds to that

Looking for a bike box and this seems to be the one everyone recommends. Great video but i am a little puzzled by something. At the end when the guy stands on the box to show how tough it is, why have the wheels been removed? this small thing does not fill me with confidence.

Can't comment if/ why the wheels were removed but I looked into most bike boxes and went with this one. It's definitely tough enough to take it. I traveled UK-US with mine no problems at all. On the off chance that any parts of the box are damaged they can all be unbolted and replaced. The anti-crush pole was what sold it for me - I've not seen any others with it and the thought of my bike being at the bottom of a pile of boxes horrified me!

+Julian Withington Hey Julian, curious if your box was inspected by TSA (you would know as they usually put a note inside the box to tell you they inspected it) and closed back up properly - including the proper placement of the anti-crush pole? - AB in CA

+Andrew Baker It wasn't inspected on the trip to the U.S. But was inspected on the way back to the UK. The Boston bombing happened whilst I was away so I think security was way up. I didn't bother to lock the box I just zip tied all the catches. I used coloured zip ties so I could tell if the box had been opened but TSA did put a note in as you said. There are clear instructions for customs on how to open and close the box and mine was zip tied back up too - but with plain zip ties.

Has anyone else noticed that the crank, chain and rear mech recess is situated on the wrong side of the box? You can't see that in this video but I have one of these boxes and it's a curious feature.

Great Video, but the one thing that baffles all people packing bikes is what way to loosen the pedals. You can never make that too clear, almost everyone gets it wrong the first time

With a pedal spanner rotate it so it goes towards the back wheel. Same for both sides. Towards front wheel to tighten. Nice n easy. :)

I always remember it as push down when the crank arm is in the 7-9 o clock position

I also thought a single central pole to 'add strength' was inadequate. I've used a bike box for years and constantly have to repair the damage airlines have done. The corners get broken; the castor wheels are smashed. I've even known the canvass strap be ripped off. Forget the cosmetics. You need something that with stands the baggage handlers work. I now make my own strengthened box that weighs under 3 kgs. It means that the ridiculously low baggae allowance [ 23 kgs] can be achieved. Or you pay Emirates and take a 10 to 14 kg bike box ....... and have an allowance of 30 kgs.

Why? Steal my ideas? It is very good. It's actually as good as the best the industry makes, which happens not to be your products. Yours is an over designed product; if it were a car it would be garden shed boy racer modified. Personally, I find your boxes ugly, flawed and with inherent design faults. Most people have spotted the laughable strengthening pole. You simply 'copy' what is out there and serve it up. Buying your product, keeping the car analogy and placing the stress on 'anal' …. your stuff is pretty ….. shi ny. Oh, can have a photo? do I want a photo?
